8 AM

Orienteering 1:19:42 [3] 2.98 mi (26:45 / mi) +22m 26:09 / mi
20c shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 4 - BLACK

Walking and setting mostly white and yellow flags. Some really cool areas that not enough people got to check out. Only 18 starts today split over 5 courses. Rainy weather + Pittsburgh marathon day probably didn’t help.

Orienteering 57:30 [3] 4.83 mi (11:54 / mi) +100m 11:11 / mi
8c shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 4 - BLACK

Flag pickup of the N most points that Syd had set. Made one really dumb error not paying any attention and running in the complete wrong direction. Rainy day but beautiful in the woods

Was not really feeling this run, I much prefer starting right off in the morning. Then my ankle snapped at 4 miles so had to walk it off, then again at 6.5 miles, ugh. Somehow it get better and thoroughly enjoyed most of the last half until the end when my legs hurt and we were on the worst trail of the day.

There are some nice trails here. Never got to see them during racoongaine. Great place for long runs because we could easily add another 6+ miles and some more hills.

I was a little worried about upping my speed run to from 3 to 4 miles, so I tried to set a pace I thought I could keep up. I also refrained from microanalyzing my watch and just look at the mile and tried to keep a steady pace by feel. Did a pretty good job. Mile 3 was uphill and into the wind.
