7 AM

Running long 1:26:21 [2] 12.13 km (7:07 / km) +40m 7:00 / km
shoes: Salamon Speedcross 4 blue

Long slow run with the emphasis on the second rather than first adjective. Sore plantar fascia afterwards, but at least I managed something that approaches a long run.

Running warm up/down 7:20 [2] 1.1 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Salamon Speedcross 4 blue

Running hills 10:57 [4] 2.06 km (5:19 / km) +5m 5:15 / km
shoes: Salamon Speedcross 4 blue

Two 1k laps. The second was approaching 5min pace. I suppose I should view that as progress.
8 AM

Running hills 22:20 [3] 3.15 km (7:05 / km) +85m 6:15 / km
shoes: Salamon Speedcross 4 blue

Hills. One way along Hard mackenzie.

Thursday Jan 4, 2018 #

Running warm up/down 3:50 [2] 0.6 km (6:23 / km)
shoes: Salamon Speedcross 4 blue

9 AM

Running tempo 23:31 [3] 4.0 km (5:53 / km) +58m 5:29 / km
shoes: Salamon Speedcross 4 blue

Two laps of the test circuit. But not much effort put on as it was already too hot.

Running hills 27:26 [3] 3.0 km (9:09 / km) +180m 7:02 / km
shoes: Salamon Speedcross 4 blue

Gatters Road Hills. Not just the 55m the Garmin claims. Almost 10 minutes a kilometre says otherwise.

Note

Total running time for 2017 - 113 hours. Down from 123 and 128 in the previous two years. More telling is that distance is down from 1000 to 750 kilometres. That is partly explained by 60 bush events this year and much less non bush running. But its also clear that I am slowing and ageing. I think only ten years ago it was 2000 a year. This year seemed like a challenge to hold off the injuries enough not to miss the orienteering events. Training on top of that was more than my body could cope with much of the time.
