Kooyoora early morning control pick. Reasonably clean except for one bad wobble when the pack caught me. I think the experience conforms Barr's law... that the IQ of a pack is equal to the mean IQ of its members divided by the square root of the number of members. The pack went to the wrong control site. I allowed them to drag me off my line and at the wrong site. Of course, with no markings, this was not going to be detected by the racing pack. I thought it looked wrong, so I tried to confirm the situation with a wander. With no control flags out it was a little like course setting... checking a number of attack points. The solution looks obvious with hindsight. It didnt seem obvious then. Sorted it out, got to the correct site and then found Andrew Cameron at the next control. See,s he realised the error as well. Good training.

Training organised by Leon. I found myself running most legs by map memory, a legacy of map making. That tactic proved ill-considered after the map change when Leon added two red lines across the obvious route choices. Routes we had used on the first map. Found out about them after finishing. Main news is that my foot survived 5 k on hard surfaces. But it is throbbing a little. Will have to see what tomorrow brings.
Keen to run again tomorrow. Managed 27 kilometers this week which is progress.

Same as yesterday. A little faster. But indications are a day of rest from running coming up next.

My daily commute takes me through 8 traffic lights of give ways. I got through 7 without having to stop this morning. Was really excited with the last one approaching but it turned red with 20 metres to go. I suspect this is the closest I will ever get to a clean run.
6 PM

MTB (Not O) 33:30 [3]

If I thought the morning ride into the wind was testing, the ride home was extreme. First gear on the flat into the wind. Risk of being blown over when side on to the wind. A very small section with a tail wind let me get into top gear on the flat. My normal 23 minute ride home gained another ten minutes.

Target... under 6 min/k. Achieved... by one second. And it was hard work. A long way to go before Tassie and not much time.
