Real Orienteering race (Wildflower Drive) 49:33 [4] *** 7.53 km (6:35 / km) +110m 6:08 / km
spiked:12/14c shoes: Asics Kayano 20 + insert

Fast terrain. Mass start of course 1. By first control the only people in sight were Warwick (and rapidly heading out of sight to make an error), Julie and Roch. From there to control 10 it was Roch and I swapping places. It made me run much faster than I have in recent months. I think this was about my current top speed. It was just over 7min/k straight line. About 1 minute slower than previous peaks. I know where I would like to be, this makes clear the extent of the challenge.
The first kilometre hurt down in the plantar department. Then it subsided till about a kilometer to go. That last kilometer was a struggle. Sore now whilst logging this. Probably a rest tomorrow.
On a very positive note, another relatively new course setter did a pretty good job with some bland terrain. Its a good sign for my dotage.

Skraplands. First in a while. Lasted the distance which surprised me. Shoes and insert seem to be working

Survived 5 k without too much pain. Tick for the new shores and the inserts, and the ball of pain exercise and the stretching. Gave up on strapping. Too impractical. Pain reduction alone seems to given me 20 seconds per kilometre.

Note
(injured)

Rather than run went out and purchased new anti-pronation shoes and a mass produced shoe insert supposedly for plantar fasciitis. Have also added extra exercises to me injury management exercise schedule. It takes longer than my runs these days.
