Note

Rock climbing at Arapiles. Taught ourselves or re-taught ourselves various rope techniques such as equalettes and sliding Xs. Managed 5 easy climbs, Julie leading two of them.

Walking 2:00:00 [1] 9.0 km (13:20 / km)

Wet day. Visited the inspiring Bundaleer cliff to scope out impossible climbing masterpieces, and some easy options for a visit on a dry day. Julie was impressed.
Visited the Balconies for the first time in my life. Amused that the classic tourist shot used in government advertising (someone standing on the balcony) is actually not allowed. Signs forbid such amusement.
Walked to the Sundial lookout to see the sundial shadow in the late afternoon, between rain and hail showers.

What better cliff to visit on a wet day..
Camping Cave-001

I believe the climb Free Snaking in the 8th dimension goes up there. Julie is dumbfounded.

On the way to the Sundial. Its hailing.

Walking 3:00:00 [1] 16.0 km (11:15 / km)

Tried to walk to Green Gap Pinnacle to check it out. The shortest way was along a seasonal track closure through a wetland. Ended up walking 16 kilometres including three through wet thick scrub. Didn't even get close to our objective. I have grabbed someone else's aerial photo of the crag to show you what we were aiming for. Comparte it with the fleeting glimpse we managed. Disappointing. We should have been here three years ago before the post-bushfire regrowth. Visited the much closer Eldorado cliff as consolation, but even that was a scrub bash. The old track is no more.
