Relay event on the remapped Wildflower Drive. Fun event with some good innovations from Jim. Jukola style map changeover. No badges but public recognition. My own run wasn't up to the organisers standard. After my last run ay Kooyoora I had thought that the lack of practice this year was not harming my technical skill. Today the result proved otherwise. In my defence, an obvious problem was readjusting after seven hours working on sprint mapping yesterday. Ít's a big jump from 1:2,500 to 1:10,000. That scale issue explained at least one of my three errors.
Was amused to learn today that i am anti-mountain bike. When I find some time I intend to write a small missive on the problems I have with mountain bike cowboys. If anyone needs an education on this matter, just compare the new Wildflower Drive map with its predecessor. If you don't want more forest to end up like this, then you can't expect to get permits that allow you to use the existing illegal track network for your events. The missive will also cover the issue of building trust with the authorities that issue permits for our events.
