Real Orienteering race (Nerrina) 53:25 [3] 6.12 km (8:44 / km) +260m 7:12 / km
shoes: Innov-8

5k straight line.
Pleasant technical orienteering at Nerrina. Only one or two spots where I felt any apprehension. My only trouble was keeping hold of the SI stick. Lost it again.

Note

The winning and second teams for course 1. A red letter day for Bendigo. We should enjoy this as we can't expect the personnel to be forever in Bendigo.

I take personal relief in the Ironman not wearing them out the day before. Perhaps even it was good as preparation, with pack running under pressure in complex mining terrain.

Note

Most of the day spent organising the Ironman. I always feel the event is on the very edge of falling apart. Got the handicaps badly wrong by cutting corners. Not next time though. Highlight was the close finish in race 3 with two people recording the same finish time, but only one finish control was available. Yes, they both had sticks in the hole at the same time!

Here is the finish chute on the last course of the day with the finish 50 metres behind the photographer. Bryan overtook Toph by the narrowest of margines.

Lovely day in the whirakee. I think it is close to its peak. Spoilt by the installation of an iPhone app that goes by the name of Shatter. Its free to install but costs $100 to uninstall.
