Real Orienteering race (Porcupine Ridge) 1:02:52 [4] *** 7.96 km (7:54 / km) +280m 6:43 / km
spiked:8/9c shoes: Saucony Xodus 9.5

A navigationally easier course after Saturday, but with more grunt. I went harder partly because there was less thinking, partly because I was feeling more comfortable about the hamstring situation, and towards the end because I had Ian Davies hanging on. That was my only navigational blemish. I concentrated too hard on getting away up the last set of hills and chose the direct more navigationally risky route on the assumption he would go the road. Of course, I came unstuck and didn't relocate as well as was possible. Lost about three minutes, all self-inflicted. That blemish meant i finished 8 seconds behind Roch. I blew one of those rare chances to finish ahead of him because he made more mistakes than myself.

Better doing this than painting the house, which resumed on return.

Real Orienteering race (Mandurang) 1:09:27 [3] *** 9.38 km (7:24 / km) +255m 6:31 / km
spiked:8/11c shoes: Saucony Xodus 9.5

A really well designed course on the north of the Mandurang map. I made three bloopers, in each case because the course setter managed to take me across some of the more complex spur-gully areas on oblique angles. This was the pick of the weekend of orienteering.

Note

Updated the rain records. March was impressive. Bendigo official gauge recorded 116. We has 193! All but 50mmm of that fell in one day.

No running for a while to help the muscle recovery. It managed Easter but I think its time to get rid of lingering injuries.
