It really was too warm for a lunch time run, but I had the 'couldn't be bothereds' this morning. Reasonably happy with the time considering.
A new thought for running in bush at the moment. Two people were arrested for being 'suspicious' in the bush in Gippsland. It hit the media. They were then released without charge. You wonder how trigger happy the locals will be with the phone pads if they see anyone driving/walking/running in the bush. Out particular interest in running through the bush seems weird to most people even in normal times.

Trying to make up for missing yesterday and the long run. Went up Durstons Road, and through the bush down Derwent Gully Road. The forest block was untouched, and friends with houses along Durstons road did not have to deal with fire, though judging by the equipment around, there was a period of worry. Came upon the fire damage at the other end. Nothing much left along Albert Street. Looks like it came racing through the southern part of New Saint Mungo forest. It was eerie. Turned around and came back straight away. Didn't linger. Must have ran hard to get out of the area, as my heart rate jumped from 130 to 155 at this stage. I must have been scared of being labelled a looter. There's a lot of angst around. Rumours are afoot of fire being started by a juvenile, as well as of looters around last night. Both rumours have been denied by police.

Note

Some views from the helicopter taken by Rob Price of DSE. These give a sense of how close in the fire got.

The QEO Oval, Rosalind Park and Tom Flood centre are in the foreground. The Hargreaves Mall (central Bendigo) is bottom left.
