(injured)

Today was the big day when Indre arrived in Melbourne. Evan drove off at 5.00 am to Tullamarine. Forty-five minutes later he rang home. Collision with kangaroo. Of all days, this was possibly his least welcome. So I drove down to Malmsbury, handed over Julie's car and then nursed his car back to Bendigo. Then drove back to Melbourne for a day of meetings.
I think the car is a financial write off. Given its worth less than $2000, it doesn't take much damage to achieve that. But its a degree of hassle. And it comes on top of the operation.
What next?

(injured)

The final diagnosis of my sore knee is in.
Here s one of the many MRI cross sections.
As an aside.... the MRI is capable of many forms of display, but I find it interesting that surgeons feel most comfortable with getting what is a mock up of the X-ray format.

The left hand side of the knee joint shows there is a flap of cartilage that has partly broken off and then flipped back into the joint. Only solution is an operation. Its a good reality check on the state of the hospital system if you don't fit the Category 1 profile.
Public patient.. free with two year wait.
Private patient in public hospital. Net $600 and operation in March.
Private patient in private hospital. Net $1000 and an early December operation.
Outcome. Getting to the Easter Three Days at Sappa Bulga will cost me an extra $400 this year. I think Sappa Bulga is worth it. I would prbably have waited if it was like the last Easter near Ipswich.

One consequence. I might as well start running until the operation, if only for fun and spinal management.

Thought for the day. Maybe I will be able to post a video clip of the surgery.
