Note

After much consideration, I awarded last place on the Senate ballot to Conservatives for Climate and Environment. At least the other candidates for this honour were open about their unfortunate or obnoxious policy positions. If the name didn't give it away, their web site did. You might call them honest crooks. But this bunch masquerade as environmentally concerned, yet pass on preferences, after a couple of stops on the way, to Family First. No one concerned about the environment can see any good in the sixth spot in the Senate being handed to another Fielding. I can only conclude the organisation has the objective of nullifying the environmental vote. Second-last place went to the Citizens Electoral Council, who are true right-wing loonies, such that no-one else will preference them. They show their colours though. Just visit their site.
Any reports from the rest of you?

CHORUS. He's got 'em on the list--he's got 'em on the list;
And they'll none of 'em be missed--they'll none of
'em be missed.

29 contenders for last position on the Senate ballot

One Nation (2) But two parties

Australian Shooters Party (2) An issue that defines a nation?

Liberals/Nationals (4) I have had enough of their three years of 'not abusing a senate majority'

Family First (6) Any party that can get so worked up about gay marriage looks like it might be full of repressed homosexuals.

LDP (2) Tax is evil

DLP (6) Still fighting ol' Doc Evatt

Fred Nile Group (2) Sigh

Citizen's Electoral Council (2) The LaRouche locals

One Nation WA (1) Because one One Nation is never enough

Conservatives for Climate Change (2) Looks like a front, as they are preferencing to Family First who have a clear policy on carbon... subsidise petrol!

But it really doesn't matter whom you put upon the list,
For they'd none of 'em be missed--they'd none of 'em be
missed!
CHORUS. You may put 'em on the list--you may put 'em on the
list;
And they'll none of 'em be missed--they'll none of
'em be missed!

Not sensible, but at least have a sense of humour

I Anarchists (2) Though I give em credit for leaving their group heading on the ballot blank

T Roundabout Party (2) Actually no name, but only policies on public record are against roundabouts and for the right to discipline children! But its very hard to find this out. They have missed a wonderful opportunity to use the Monty Python Traffic Light song as their theme. This lack of imagination pushes them down my ballot below the Anarchists.

V Klein no name group. Also no policy group... and thats on the record. Points for honesty, but why not just stand as a Liberal.

Darryl O'Brien: "According to Darryl, there's a constitutional subsection that'll get you out of anything. Traffic tickets, water restrictions, you can even secede if you want to." Main policy is to remove lawyers from Parliament! I assume this includes Ruddock, so he isn't last on my ballot.

Senate "On-Line", who seem to flout all the rules of online culture.

Why do they do it category. Clearly bright boys and girls who would know the odds.

P Secular Party (2) No ballot header, both candidates are mathematicians, so they should be under no illusions about their chances.

Teejay Sener: Seems to limit campaigning to blogs. For public ownership of internet pipes.

And finally, the don't know when to stop group. You think they would have learnt by now. Standing for the Senate won't bring on the revolution boys and girls
Socialist Alliance, Socialist Equality etc Our own Judean People Liberation Front splinter groups?

This site is a mine of help for below the line senate voters

Real Orienteering race (Sedgwick) 1:37:00 [3] 13.6 km (7:08 / km)
(injured) shoes: Columbia

Running a three hour twilight event is an opportunity to be grasped with both hands, even if it becomes an exercise in medical diagnosis by braille. Braille in the sense that you discover the limitations when you run into them. Conclusion. Over the virus. Well, almost. Not over the knee. Stopped running after an hour and a quarter, and that wasn't because it was getting dark. Pretty much limping today.

(injured) (sick)

Coming out the other side now. Had an MRI of my suspect knee today. Those MRI machines wouldn't impress John Cleese. They don't go 'Ping'. More like "thunk-thunk-thunk' at jackhammer speed. They put ear muffs on you.
