In the interests of fair play... so some and sundry may continue their sledging. A note.
First some questions.
Colac Woolies.
Durians still on sale. Are these the same fruit on sale when I last passed through?
Well known soft drink selling at $2.85 for 600ml bottle or $1.75 for a 2000ml bottle. Consistent with any law of economics that assumes rational consumers? Are they paying to get rid of the product?
Some pictures. Perhaps the best unmapped orienteering terrain remaining in Victoria. Pushing Black Range into second spot.
Think small mounds and depressions, a little like Cantara Dunes.
Add mappable rock detail across most of the map.
Some larger hills for route choice.
With very very rocky ground to complicate the route.
Then some impassable stone walls.
Good all weather road access.
The potential assembly areas are limited by the terrain, but they are there. And you aren't going to get bogged.
Finally some lakeside scenery (salt).
The issues.
1. Its not adjacent to Bendigo.
2. The 'wrong' side of Melbourne.
3. Access. Quite a bit of the terrain is used for dairy cattle. You won't get to run through a dairy herd. But the more isolated parts have beef cattle grazing. More chance. I saw one land for wildlife sign. And at least two properties are for sale. Dairy is going through a boom, so it may expand into the area.
4. Summer safety. Notorious tiger snake country in summer. Lots of refuge and feed for the reptiles. When the fire went through the Pomberneit area last year, fire fighters were pulled out of the stony rise conuntry because of the risk from snakes.
