Note

I spent the evening picking various seeds and grass out of my socks from BCOCs. Otherwise a great event!

Orienteering race 1:13:45 [3] 11.65 km (6:20 / km) +287m 5:38 / km

BCOC Long - 4th place M21 and overall

at Cranbrook Community Forest

A bit of a running race where running straight was always the correct solution, except if there was a pond in the way or if there was a trail within 50m of your route. I thought the courses were well set given the nature of the terrain with generally large features, high visibility, medium to high density trail network, and limited detail.

BCOC sprint - 4th place in M21 (5th? overall)

Kimberley Kettles map. I did not fuel well leading up to this with insufficient hydration and not enough food beforehand.

Nice area for a forest sprint and courses that made good use of it, but not really my cup of tea.

Orienteering race 38:18 [4] 4.93 km (7:46 / km) +164m 6:39 / km

BCOC Middle - 2nd Place in M21 (3rd overall).

Super fun terrain with some fabulous courses set by Chris and Marion! A bit of a shame that the map has aged significantly in the three years since its creation in terms of vegetation, but it was still excellent orienteering. I think my favourite race of the year so far.

Running warm up/down 8:34 [1] 0.43 km (19:47 / km)
