Running 15:00 [2]

Note

Got the HPP Application submitted with 55 minutes to spare, assuming the deadline is midnight Pacific Time, otherwise I guess it is late.

Course maps and results for OART all uploaded. Video and Survey to follow. If you have any pictures from the event, please send them to me, I barely have any.

Time to catch on sleep tonight, equipment clean-up and everything tomorrow, and another trip to kelowna to return keys/get back damage deposits at some point on Monday or Tuesday.

Running 35:00 [1]

Various and assorted running around like crazy highly stressed out. OART Day 1 over. So far, so good.

Now to sort out equipment, get things ready for tomorrow, and write up my JWOC application. Another enjoyable evening.

Note

Everything is all set to go for OART.

Biking 1:11:49 [1] 10.93 km (6:34 / km) +410m 5:32 / km

De-stressing easy ride with Dad in South Canoe. Almost the same route as yesterday, but did the road around instead of bears den, and added the extra climb up the road to Paranoia Right.

Just a few things left to do for OART tonight, make sure all of our permissions certificates are printed out and in order, organize equipment.

Then I need to do most of my Supplementary JWOC application...

Biking (Mostly Mountain) 1:21:38 [1] 12.35 km (6:36 / km) +482m 5:32 / km

Easy ride out to South Canoe, then climb, crosscut, lower triangle, mo buddah, lower schitzo, banjo, flying nun with Pia, Rachel, Jess, and Mhari.

Maps for OART are all printed, control description cutting is tonight, along with setting up MeOS files for each race. Tomorrow is for anything I've forgotten, my supplementary JWOC application, and to catch up on emails that I haven't gotten back to people on that have accumulated over the last week.

Next week is for mapping Toronto, and organizing BCOCs.

Orienteering 38:36 intensity: (6:40 @1) + (24:59 @2) + (6:57 @3) 3.63 km (10:38 / km) +49m 9:58 / km
ahr:142 max:159

Middle course at Canoe Creek. Going pretty slow today, a little bit tired and want to keep the energy up for the upcoming weekend. Things are still ticking along smoothly, event package went out as scheduled, registration closes tonight (so hopefully will have to throw together a couple of new bibs!). Rest of this evening is finishing up layouts for the maps to be printed, test prints at home. Down to the print shop tomorrow.
To Do List:
- Figure out the numbers/heat distribution
- Make up a Big Poster Sized Sheet to Track Progress Through Heats
- Buy Pens and Sharpies
- Print Everything

Running 10:00 [1]

Starting to run backwards on the long course, but Pia and Rachel were pretty close to done.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [1] 8.0 km (7:30 / km) +4m 7:29 / km

Double checking control locations/maps for OART events #3/4.

Feeling pretty good about things in general, frankly the biggest issue at the moment is map bags, but that's pretty minor. Things seem to be shaping up well.

GPS track hidden, time rounded by a little bit, and distance also to prevent any sort of spoiling of OART courses.

Running 54:30 intensity: (9:30 @1) + (45:00 @2) 6.24 km (8:44 / km) +324m 6:56 / km
ahr:144 max:164

You have until Wednesday night at Midnight to register for OART, so get it done already!

Running with Pia above Lake Country. First time exploring a new trail system, also trying to judge orienteering suitability as LiDAR data for this area becomes available within the next year. The part of the park we were in was rather hilly, and generally not all the interesting for orienteering, but other parts that we saw looked like they could be decent.

It was another stunningly beautiful day in the Okanagan. If you were holding out because of the possibility of rain, the forecast is looking pretty darn good for the weekend. Expect more of this:

Looking south towards Kelowna from a hill on our run today just north of Kelowna.

Wild Soles local trail running race on a always Hilly Course at Park Hill. Can't find my time from last year to compare with, but it really hurt this year. Good to get some intensity in.

Running 2:00 [1] 0.13 km (15:23 / km) +2m 14:05 / km
ahr:105 max:112

No really a cool-down.
