Note

Bought a new phone today - my Moto G3 finally started to kick the bucket to a point not worth fixing (I think I was on phone screen number 4). Battery starting to barely last the day (had it die on me a couple of times), headphone jack not working reliably, and charging port starting to be iffy as well. Most importantly, the touch screen digitizer started getting phantom touches all over the place, and 1/3 of the screen (including where the e and s keys were located on my keyboard) died. Made me change my default message reply from yes, to yup.

Anyways after about 6-8 hours of online sleuthing through devices only marginally different from each other, but all way bigger than they should be (my phone shouldn't be a tablet - I already have a tablet to be a tablet) I bought a Nokia 2.2. Thinking back on it, if I had only spend one hour researching, and had worked on some of my backlog of mapping jobs, I could have gotten a much better more expensive device for the same amount of time input.

Spent much of the afternoon once I got through my midterms setting it up, and other than a brief hiccup where I uninstalled the keyboard, leaving me with only google voice command "keyboard" (since deactivated), most of my customization google removal (as much as possible) is going fairly well.

Games (Soccer) 1:00:00 [2]

Well... we won 3-1.

Ankle really sore now.

Last game of the year, so going to focus on R&R of the ankle along with building up some focused leg strength to deal with the niggling plantarfasciitis, this ankle issue, and finally (hopefully) doing some muscle be-balancing between the legs.

Games (Soccer) 1:10:00 [2]
(injured)

No Subs. Felt really tired heading into the game, and even more tired coming out.

At any rate, I played ok, but not great. We won like 6-1 or something.

Definitely still having issues with my right ankle from blocking that shot a couple of weeks back.

Note

In voting for Larch Hills in the https://www.kraftheinzprojectplay.com/ I have some serious questions about Captcha and how I am supposed to answer it:

1. What constitutes a "Mountain or Hill"? Cause a few of those ones shouldn't count as either.

2. On crosswalks painted with the two white edge lines, does the unpainted space between the two count as part of the crosswalk?

3. Does a bus count as a car? It seems like trucks do, but...?

4. Do pedestrian signals count as traffic lights?

Orienteering 50:00 intensity: (25:00 @0) + (25:00 @1)
(injured)

Putting out controls for our local training. City of Kelowna did more extensive brush cleaning for fuel removal than I though - had some iffy impacts on a few controls - but oh well. Everyone got through their courses just fine and had fun.

Having some issues with my feet again, and my ankle is acting up a bit too. Ran the first half of setting, walked the second half. Going to go buy some new shoes (finally) this weekend. Aiming for a pair of more cushioned trail running shoes.

Reminder to self: don't print maps immediately before putting out controls. Getting down to Staples (across the highway) and back takes forever at 4:00 in the afternoon. Kelowna traffic at rush hour sucks.

Games (Soccer) 1:05:00 [2]

Bit of a blow out. We won like 8 to 1 or something. Two weeks left.

Orienteering 20:00 [2]

Training at Kelowna Cultural District.

My first orienteering training since COCs, except of course for the 4 or 5 events I've been involved in organizing since then...

I really, really enjoyed it!

We had 17 or 18 people out tonight (one or two less than last week). Two new faces. People really enjoyed it I think and were all talking together afterwards in the parking lot - a good sign I think.

Games (Soccer) 1:00:00 [1]

Lost to the best team in the league 3-0 tonight. We had no sung, they had three and were using them a lot.

Running against fresher legs all night, but managed to keep up.

Ankle held up really well, just a small twing the one time I took a shot from up front.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [1]

Control Pick-Up from Revelstoke Classic.

Orienteering 2:45:00 intensity: (1:00:00 @0) + (1:45:00 @1)

Control setting for Revelstoke Classic.

Got it done with 45 minutes to go before the event, get back to the parking lot, and about 1/5 of the participants are already there...

Note
(injured)

Had our first ever orienteering weeknight training in Kelowna tonight!

I was hoping to run, but my ankle is still in rough shape so opted to just help out in the parking lot.

We got a solid group of 19 people, plus the two of us organizing. I think everyone, or at least almost everyone will come back too and really enjoyed the low-key training. I think we should be able to make this sustainable in Kelowna. Fingers crossed.

Games (Soccer) 50:00 [1]
(injured)

Won 4 or 5 to 1. I had a pretty good game, but blocked a shot about 1m from the guy who took it. Twisted my foot around pretty bad. Played the rest of the game, but dubbed a low more than usual and ran a little slow.

Today I'm thinking I probably should have stopped right away.... It's pretty sore and dislikes some movements. Biking seems fine, running/walking is iffy.
