Ski Orienteering 1:08:00 [2] 13.0 km (5:14 / km)

Nice ski-o, first one ever. Bit of an advantage having made the map and seen the courses before hand, but still had to think a little bit. Made a couple of mistakes even still, cut through the forest once when I should not have, and possible one other small routechoice error.

Running 42:00 [1] 7.0 km (6:00 / km)

Nice evening run in the 5+ inches of fresh powder everywhere. Was going to try my hand at GPS art downtown, but will leave my pre-planned route for another day (likely Monday, or Christmas if I get really bored and feel fat).

Skiing - Skate 34:00 [3]

2x14min up Larch Lake Loop to Cec's
then 1x6 min up Larch Hills Road to Cec's from the Larch Lake Loop Junction.

Easy ski back down between each one.

Skiing - Skate 1:00 [5]

4 short sprints just above the south hub.

Skiing - Skate 1:30:00 [1]

Forgot my Garmin again, so no distance. Great ski though, felt tired towards the end of each of the intervals.

Skiing - Skate 1:10:00 [1] 11.0 km (6:22 / km)

Monday Dec 19, 2016 #

Running 42:00 [1] 6.45 km (6:31 / km) +135m 5:54 / km
shoes: Inov8

One exam left to go and that's tomorrow... so figured I'd go for a run instead of studying.
I needed to try out my new Inov8's that just arrived. The grip is amazing!

Nice easy run, glad that's it has warmed up a bit and snowed as well. We need all the white stuff we can get for the ski-o on new year's eve that I still have to promote everywhere.

Note

After exams to do list:
- Decide what to do with my life (other university applications, program choices, scholarship applications, etc.)
- Finish HPP application (training plan, etc.)
- Test SI timing equipment with Brian
- Ski-O organization
- Finish BC Cup #1 maps and elevation profiles
- Maybe start mapping Haines Creek?
- Get last few Christmas Presents
- Start a core strength and maybe stretching routine every evening before going to bed.
- Remember to add to my training log the stretching and map reading that I do (Didn't know to do that until I saw the HPP application, and haven't gotten around to adding it since)
- Catch up on WorldofO Christmas series
- Organize High School snowshoeing and pancakes reunion at Larch Hills?

Games (Soccer) 1:05:00 [2]

Borrowed a couple of really good players, so we won. Only 2 subs, so actually felt a little tired by the end!

Hiking 1:00:00 [1]

Hiking a bit over a kilometer in on logging roads to get to public land under the hydrolines. Got a good look at the area I'll be mapping next spring too. Then hunting around in circles for around an hour looking for a christmas tree, chopped it down, and carried it back out on my shoulder. Maybe should log this as strength instead...

Counted at around half time.

Skiing - Classic 2:05:00 [1]

Forgot my garmin again, so no distance. Cold, easy ski with Phil and a few others. Most people are down in Rossland at the NORAM, but something to do with exams and not really skiing too much kept me in town.

Nice ski, some no poles, some double pole, a bunch of short sprints, a game. Really a nice mix.

Looked for the end of my pole again, still can't find it. I'll look again in the spring after the snow melts I guess.

Thursday Dec 15, 2016 #

Note

Feeling sore from the crash, I'll take it easy/won't do anything for the next couple of days. Glad I don't have any exams to write today, my head and back hurt.

Wednesday Dec 14, 2016 #

Skiing - Skate 35:00 [1]

It was a great ski in the dark (with a nice bright new headlight) until I had a head on collision with somebody (their fault really, always go to the right hand side of the trail), busted my pole, rolled off the bank and got a good bunch of whiplash and pulled my leg a bit. Decided to head back after that.

Forgot my garmin, so approximate time and no distance.

Skiing - Skate 3:00 [4]

Only managed to get a few sprints in before wiping out.

Monday Dec 12, 2016 #

Note

I suck at training while studying for exams. I'm always so tired for after writing them, and then I have to study for the next one...

On another note, celebrated my grandfather's 87th birthday today!

Skiing - Classic warm up/down 55:00 [1]

Saturday Dec 10, 2016 #

Skiing - Classic 18:30 [4]

First race of the season at Sovereign, mass start 2x2.5km. It sucked, felt aweful, no speed. Probably related to only skiing like 3 times before this... also had a crummy warm up so only really got into racing near the end of the second lap where I passed the three or so people who I ended up beating (out of like thirty).

On the positive side, I came close but did not puke afterwards for the first time since the skate sprint at nationals in Whitehorse last year.
