I think my AP days might nearly be done. Just not finding the time to write up and have slowly migrated to Strava. Probably that I'm not really an orienteer anymore and am now a runner/trail runner doesn't help either. AP has been amazing though and I'm pretty sure until about a month ago I hadn't missed a days entry since 2006 when I started. Anyhow I might try and keep going just writing up some races as I do find it valuable to look back at the races and Strava doesn't really lend itself to a decent write up. Sooooo....

Tour de Ridges. Hasnt been a good year for training and put on a few kilos too which doesn't help. Literally a few though so not too bad. Got an entry to Six Foot though a few weeks ago so ramping up the training again. Done this race many times although slight twist this year with the Centenary Trail closed in a section so a detour meant an extra 500m.
Started off reasonably although Farrer Ridge felt harder than it should. Settled into a group of 4 with the leading female, Neverest t shirt and salmon shoes. Neverest lead us up Waniassa and got a little gap which I closed on the way down the hill. Maybe used more pennies than I should on Wanniassa and had a flat patch on the way to Isaacs Ridge. Thought I was slowing so had a gel but then passed Neverest so figured I wasn't the only one.
A trudge up Wanniassa with me falling to the back of our group of 4 and in fact the other 3 getting a little gap. Had another gel down the hill and closed the gap. Rolled along the flat part before the second ascent of Isaacs and was in the lead of our group of 4 at the base.
Salomoln shoes and leading female passed me up the hill and drew away. Neverest popped off the back. Thought I might be able to reel the other two in along the flat lands back to Farrer Ridge but, unlike how I remember last year, I didn't have it in me to get them. Maybe ran 4min30s along the flatlands compared to 4min10s last year (not 100% sure and can't be arsed looking it up).
Finished steady at best although gained some on salamoln shoes on the last k or so as he seemed to pop but I wasn't close enough to challenge him. Great running from the leading female to run 1hr41. My time showing where I'm at with work to do - last year was 1hr36. Even with the extra 500m on course definitely slower. Time to get training.
