Running warm up/down 1:30 intensity: (5 @1) + (40 @2) + (45 @3) 0.29 km (5:06 / km)
ahr:132 max:147 shoes: Nike Zoom Fly

Way short warm up when team mate Martin ran about 15 minutes quicker than he thought he would.

Running race 2:00:08 intensity: (6 @2) + (17:42 @3) + (1:41:40 @4) + (40 @5) 23.23 km (5:10 / km) +673m 4:31 / km

Sri Chinmoy 105 Ultra relay. Got drafted into last leg of team 'Geesed Lightning' (Speedy Geese running group) when mate Jacob withdrew. Had done leg 5 years ago which started in Dickson went over Majura and then Ainslie and finished by the lake. Some course changes since 5 years ago but race same distance.
Started in 4th overall and 14mins behind the leading all male team. I vaguely knew the leading team runner, Barnado, and thought I could catch a few mins on him but not 14. Was quite warm at the start across majura slopes with not much shade. Ran up Majura up a track I'd not been up before - a kind of goat track under some power lines. Reckon I will use it again.
Drink and gel at Majura peak and then down the very steep rocky track that goes direct to the saddle. Could feel the descent in my legs as I went over Hackett Hill.
Tried to keep a decent downhill pace down through Campbell Park and was running 4min10s down the hill which I was happy with. Another drink and gel at Campbell Park and then long steady grind up Ainslie. Started to predict my time hoping to get under 2hours for the leg. The climb up Ainslie meant under 2 hours looked unlikely but was gonna be close so pushed on down Ainslie.
Had passed a very slow lady in the first 2k but otherwise hadn't seen another runner till now when came round one of the Ainslie switchbacks and could see Barnado. Woohoo. He was moving very slowly for him and I thought maybe it was his second leg for the day - turned out it wasn't he was cramping.
Pushed on some more again thinking of the sub 2 hours and got the pleasure of passing Brendan Davies just before the war memorial. Brendan is amazing ultra runner who was doing the race solo and entering his 99th km approx for the day while I was running my 20th. Had a little chat and then pushed on again.
All good down Anzac Ave and onto Rond terrace where the Speedy Geese team mates were stoked to see us take the win. Good day with all team members running their expected time or faster. I missed 2 hours by 8 seconds but happier with the win.

Entry in lamest cool down ever shuffling back and forth across Rond Terrace.

In Melbourne for a few days so headed out from mum and dads and turned right at the Plenty River rather than usual left. Ended up at sight of Primary School footy Grand Final (win, McCrae 3 goals), cricket grand final (loss, McCrae had to hit 6 off last ball and only managed a 1) and regional cross country (went out too hard and spewed at top of first hill probably 1k in).
