Unbelievably slow and weary run home from Uncle Sheps and Auntie Jos. It was hot, I felt hordinary and it was a long drag. Had a gel at the arboretum which picked things up a bit so maybe my post-conference fasting (to make up for the conference-gorging) had an effect.

last morning in the Gold Coast and made flight so i could do a Park Run. Had hoped to do Main Beach which is meant to be picturesque, beach side and the 1st Park Run in Oz but worked out it was 7-8k warm up run to the start and time precluded that. Especially when i found the 'Broadbeach Waters' Park Run about 3k from hotel. Perfect.
This was warm up jog to start through Gold Coast suburbia of canals and boats in driveways or tied up to your house's pier. Had got up early enough that didn't have to rush too much.

Broadbeach Waters Park Run. I'd looked at course which looked mostly a lap of the park but Race Director explained it was two laps of the park. Also no marshals, just signs, so hoped I had someone in sight. Smaller field than Canberra but I got a fair cheer when I admitted to being a Park Run tourist from Canberra.
Started at back of group and moved through into third behind a guy who looked like he was gonna clear out (he did) and a 12 yo girl who I hoped would fade (she did). Solid consistent pace. Leader was far enough ahead that I got a bit confused at the spot we'd been warned about where there was a sign pointing left and one pointing right - hesitated and then did my left first lap and later right to the finish.
Kept a pretty even pace losing a bit on last 2k. A guy blew past me at about 4k but I think that was his change of pace rather than me slowing. Time pretty good although course shorter and easier than Lake Gininderra.

Took a while to get going on jog home as my Park Run tourist status meant quite a few convos. Impressive level of friendliness actually - I should make more effort at Gininderra with tourists. Ran back to 'No Name Lane' cafe for my last good coffee from them for the week. Even bought some of there beans.

Blobby run on beach. Was going to be longer but was too anxious about missing 6ft entry so went back early. Got an entry smoothly and have heard Rob, GM and Spottage got in too.

Had some time and I don't get to run on the beach too often so went for 40mins up towards Surfers Paradise. Wasn't sure when to turn around but when I got to the fence that keeps us out of the schoolies (or keeps them in) I figured that was about it.

6 * 1k ints at Gold Coast. Left hotel room pumped but outside into humidity and hot - well more humid than canberra. took a wrong turn on 2nd rep which meant 2nd k was on beach. was wrecked for rest but struggled on.
Finished at good coffee shop I'd found on Bean Hunter and then back to hotel. Bloke in front of me at hotel queue looked familiar - Brett Weihart!!!!! My 1990 JWOC teammate here for a (different) conference too. I tried not to sweat too much on his sharp suit.
travelled to Gold Coast and in conference all day. Got back to hotel at 9pm so used hotels indoor lap pool to crank out another 500m swim. Two swims in a week! At this rate I'll be a triathlete.
