Long run in heat of the day as that was my time window. Did a loop through black mtn reserve before picking up Rossco at his place and round LakeG. quite a few stops for water. Bit weary by the end. Also unfortunately missed a section on my shoulder for sunscreen so now that is a crispy pattern.

Back in the berra so met Rob on the corner and we jogged down to Park Run. Hard to belieVe did Park Run last Saturday but at Albert Park Lake.

Running race 20:14 intensity: (4 @0) + (24 @1) + (11 @2) + (33 @3) + (3:11 @4) + (15:51 @5) 5.0 km (4:03 / km) +12m 4:00 / km

Was going to start slow but was worried about GrantM beating me so went out pretty solid. Legs felt a bit bike weary and busted ars was there but not hampering me. Solid thru first few k but started to struggle thru lack of training, particularly speed training, in the 4th and 5th. Time quicker than last Saturday so thats good but still pretty slow. Beat GrantM so main goal achieved. ;)

Running warm up/down 20:54 intensity: (2:16 @1) + (11:09 @2) + (7:29 @3) 3.1 km (6:44 / km) +42m 6:19 / km

Was going to run home via Belco markets for quality coffee beans but GrantM said most of markets closed so had to get crappy beans from coles. Some beans better than no beans.

Bi-annual longish run with Jimbo at Kooyoora. Such a great place and has been my whole life. Met at the top Caves car park to cater for Jim and my increasing 'crocness' as jim needed a down hill run to warm his injuries up. Set off along the track to Cristal Mine which was waterless - bit unusual but Jim said not much rain run off this year.

Started navigating across towards the mountain and headed up a gully to the east rather than usual more western gully. Camp site on top of the Mountain looked well used and we took a few happy snaps. Looked like a new building/man made feature on the edge of the map near Camp Kooyoora. Along the hill tops clambering across the rocks till we were at the top of one of the main granite slabs of the 'shining mountain'. Jimbo talked me into a bit of nervousness across the top of the slab by focussing on the lack of grip on my nikes.

Stopped again to look over WOC 85 finish paddock before pushing along Kooyoora Spur. Got temporarily misplaced a few times due to too much talking and not enough diligence with map reading. Jimbo took a bit of a tumble crossing a gap at one point pretty much steam rolling the scrub that was there which was handy for my progress but less good for his bloodied elbow.

Headed off the spur and bungled our way along the M55B course that was on our map before crossing the paddock used for the World Masters and back along the road to the Caves. We had planned to run through the forest but given Jim was about 40mins above his physio prescribed limit and it was getting a bit warm we were happy to run the track.

Great to run at Kooyoora with Jimbo again. Had a coke and a chicken schnitzel burger at Newstead on way home which hit the spot.

Enjoyed yesterdays ride start to the day thought I'd do the same this year. Weather a bit grimmer with some light rain but I planned a loop out to almost trentham, across to glenlyon and then back along malmsbury road. Heading out of town ('all is quiet on a new years day…') I could already see loop was unlikely due to breakfast engagement for Mum's birthday. So instead decided to go to Lyonville, home of my old primary school camp, and return. Pretty flat on way out and happy enough to get to Lyonville. The pub in Lyonville, Radio Springs, looked super inviting and I thought for a moment open but soon worked out things had just been left as they probably were at closing time last night (other than locking the front doors). Checked out the old school camp which was looking dilapidated although had immediate flashbacks to the disco.
Turned and rode home and did a little extension to the 'Lost Childrens Memorial'. Turned out it was up a massive hill which was good on return where I almost cracked 70kmh. Lost Childrens Memorial was very sad story from 150 years ago which made for a low ride home. Finished up Wombat Gardens Hill making 2 big hills today.
Breakfast will be hard to top for the year. Up at Wombat Hill Gardens Cafe (the same people who run the Lake House in Daylesford) had two great coffees and the breakfast pizza - mushrooms, bacon, cheese, tomatoes all melded into a pizzay-dough and topped with two poached eggs and home made relish. It was excellent and now at 6pm I haven't eaten since. :)

Hilly, morning road ride from Daylesford. Down through Hepburn (cold downhill as was 6deg overnight and I did not have warm riding gear), up out a very steep Forest St to Midland Hwy, along the Hwy and detour up and into Mt Franklin ex-volcano. Lots of campers there before turning round and down through Franklinford, left past the cricket bat "home" before a very long haul up to Daylesford. Was racing a postman - he had the advantage of a motor but the disadvantage of delivering mail. I got him comfortably in the end. Not much open in Daylesford so ended up at the muffin place. Ordinary coffee was compensated by delicious bacon and egg toasted sandwich. 8 middle-age camp, chatty blokes on table next to me very interested in my bike including one who offered to swap his van for it - I looked at his van and declined.

A slow trot round Daylesford and particularly the lake. Think I will take off my 'injury' status as this run was fine and my busted ars now officially moves back to niggle status.
