Running 1:24:49 [3] 16.59 km (5:07 / km) +241m 4:46 / km
shoes: Nike Vomero

Longish run with Rob from home, through Arboretum and onto Weston Park where met the families so Belinda and Al could run jogalong. Humid, sweaty run and felt weak from start to finish. Impressive viewing platform on Dairy Farmers Hill as part of Arboretum.

Still enjoying new Garmin and looking at satellite imagery of Arboretum on run been plenty of development since those photos taken although work had well begun when those images were snapped.

Note
(rest day)

In the past I have made a point of running on New Years Day despite large hangovers as part of showing my commitment to running/training/orienteering. This year I had no hangover whatsoever but thought it time for a rest day. The fact that it was NYD didnt come into consideration except perhaps that it is my Mums birthday and consequently, with Mum in Canberra, we were quite busy.

weight:81.2kg shoes: Nike Air Pegasus27

3 surges with Andy & Rob - crackenback, Little Black & Aranda Hill. Legweary during run to start of crackenback so just set myself to do all 3 efforts, which i did. Legs v weary by the time of Aranda Hill surge but times still within a normal range for all the efforts. Good hill strength training.
Crackenback 11.09
Little Black 10.27
Aranda Hill 4.25
Havent quite mastered split taking for intervals on new watch yet.

My common slack ars half lap of aranda. Garmin showed it was about as short as I feared however at least it does go over the top of Aranda Hill. And it is a recovery run. Found out even recovery runs are difficult post a BBQ.

Running long 2:11:52 intensity: (1:51:52 @3) + (20:00 @4) 23.11 km (5:42 / km) +560m 5:05 / km
weight:80.6kg shoes: Nike Vomero

Long run with ANdy, Grant, SHannon & Rob. Ran over to Rob's house, through Aranda Hill, Rani Rd, up black Mtn on the southern spur single track, down to a Bruce Ridge and a lap of the ridge before back through Gossan Hill. Had to run almost to ANdy's house to make sure I got 2hrs and then over cooked things a bit but at least I had Grant for company who was running home trying to stretch it out to 3.5hrs (he'd run to Robs also). Felt really good endurance wise and on the flats but think strength up the hills is what I will need to work on for 6ft.

On the Garmin HR monitor front I contacted Clever Training in Florida (yes I'm giving them a plug) who I bought the watch off and they are sending me a new HR strap straight away for free. I don't even have to send the rooted one back.

Running intervals 44:06 intensity: (24:06 @3) + (20:00 @4) 8.12 km (5:26 / km) +169m 4:55 / km
shoes: Nike Air Zoom Elite 4

4*EcMos Easy ints with Rob. Felt pretty good but times fairly average. No Andy to chase (unrealistic to chase Rob) may have effected it. Felt better for getting the session done in fact it was very enjoyable. Running/training seems easier when you don't have to work! Garmin says loop is 930m.

On the bad news front the HR monitor of the brand new, revered Garmin seems to have packed it in after a whopping 2 runs. Disappointing. Have done all the things recommended by the Garmin web nerds and cant kick it into gear so have filed support request with Garmin. Bugger.

Easy run with Rob & Grant after runnning to Robs via Searlos to get mail. Split into two runs as was having trouble getting HRM to work and tried restarting - didnt get it to work. grrr. Pretty casual run through lower Aranda Hill track then back up Bastard Hill on single track and onto classic loop. Plenty of Bogong-Hotham run talk - the boys are pumped and its still a couple of weeks away...
