Long run out at Stromlo so we could join in special Deek run round old Deeks Dve area before it is bulldozed to make way for Jo & Sheps mansion. Pissed down rain whole run. Ran from Stromlo Forest Park over to new Deeks Dve, waited while Deek said a few words then ran on a 2k loop which sorta included some of old Jogalong course. The headed off as COckies Group - Dreaded, JLA, ALJ, Hoggster, Devil, Sanders, Miss Jones, Lac6hy and ROhan Lowy joined us. Along very muddy tracks beside COtter rd then up Stromlo, down parallel to WCup MTB course, through old Arachnocopia parking area and along beside Uriarra Rd to car park.
Good for a change and will be good when trees grown back up but pretty bare at the moment. As Hoggster said dont know why runners go out there every weekend with so many other good areas in Canberra. I felt quite good which was encouraging as felt pretty weary overnight from yesterday.
Afters at A Bite to Eat. Service a bit of a debacle but atmosphere nice and I had a very yummy & filling fruit toast. Also had caramel milkshake - trying to be more like Miss Jones without the running every day thing.

Morning half lap of Aranda. First run since fell on hip with no nerve pain.

Run with Andy & Rob over to Little Black Mtn where ANdy and I did the surge and then back to Aranda Hill where again Andy & I did the surge. Rob had grand plans for ints but unfortunately his injury got in the way. Stayed with andy on flat & downhill parts of surges but he was bit too strong on uphills. My times pretty good including Little Black effort being about a minute quicker than last week, altho last week was basically run solo and I had done the crackenback before it.

Fri morn run this time with Hoggster & Searlo. Searlo v keen arriving early and prancing round. Analysed the 1st day of the test and I concluded the Poms problem is they didnt play against any Victorians in the lead up. I think there was only 1 Victorian they played against in the lead up and that was Cameron WHite in the Australia A game and he made a 100. When they hit the only one in the Aussie team that the NSW mafia hadnt kept out of the side he (Siddle) got a hat trick amongst 6. Hope they dont have a tour game against the mighty Vics.

Started work at 8.45am and finished at 8.15pm. Ate thai take away at work then got home and had a beer, 3 mint slices (OK it was 4) and a hot chocolate.

SS at Majura West. Didnt orienteer well, just running and not looking at the map enough. Mistakes at 1,2 & 3 then conciously tried to get it together and did until 8 when made a Barry Crocker. After that went back to running with map glances and consequently fairly hit and miss whether I found them. Pushed on trying to minimise time loss to Dev but to my surprise he had a worse run than me, I beat him by 2min36s and now lead by 5mins02s. Not surprisingly plenty of others beat me.

XC at Black Mtn Peninsula. Was pumped to break 19 and pretty sure I was gonna do it. That was until I got to the race and saw the course was not the one I'd done in the past on roads/bike paths but instead this bendy, bumpy, all grass convuluted thing. Regardless went out like a bat out of hell, possibly too hard, and couldnt hold it. Still pretty good time and I beat Gramps for first time in long time. Was 3 Laps of 1.7k course:

usual commute ride although today in beautiful sunshine. I felt a bit (v small bit) like a TdF rider riding through the v long grass beside the bike track.
