Running race 39:27 [5] 10.0 km (3:57 / km)
ahr:168 max:176 shoes: Nike Air Zoom Elite 4

Canada Day, aka Terry Fox, Fun Run. Thought I'd aim for sub 41 although ALJ suggested before start that sub 40 should be possible. Started off near front although lot of punters to wade through. First k was well under 4min mark which was suprising so just tried to find a rhythm. Was running smootthly and at a good clip with k rate good for sub 40 so started to think, like the little red engine, that maybe I could. A slow one at 5k that was so slow I think the marker was wrong and pressed home keeping the pace despite it being harder to keep. Poor 9th k after talking to the bloke next to me and immediately feeling like I wanted to spew. V pleased with time - dont think I've broken 40 for a 10k for many a year.
AFter a tour of closed cafes in south canberra we ended up at Urban Food which was packed. I had good coffee and then pounced on a wrongly delivered croissant to add to my small collection of free cafe food/coffees. Oh had already had 2 nice servings of pancakes at the Embassy.

Running 1:05:02 [3] 13.0 km (5:00 / km)
ahr:147 max:166 weight:83.6kg shoes: Nike Air Pegasus26

8am run with RobW. ROb was a machine running over to my house first and home again at the end. We went through the burbs up to and up Painter then down the farmhouse loop way before peeling off on a 'new' track. Without ANdy turning down all RObs good ideas we got onto a track through the paddocks basically round the base of Painter. Came back in near the horse paddocks then down through Aranda Hill before Rob went home adn I went up Bastard Hill and home. Felt pretty weary pretty much the whole run but fortunately ROb was in the same boat I think.

Running 23:23 [3] 4.0 km (5:51 / km)
ahr:124 max:143 shoes: Nike Air Pegasus26

Another aranda half lap in the cold. Saw the old couple again with my theory of them walking the uphills confirmed as I saw them shift the throttle from "jog" to "walk" as they hit a hill in front of me. Perhaps there windcheaters weigh them down?

Running intervals 20:00 [5] 5.0 km (4:00 / km)

5*3min efforts on Mt Taylor reserve (not actually on Mt Taylor) with 1min recovery. Felt pretty good like striding out ok. Pace was probably around 5k pace. Good to get out in miserable conditions.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:00 / km)
ahr:136 max:151 shoes: Nike Air Zoom Elite 4

run from work over and back to Mt Taylor. Some good little single tracks up there now.

Running 1:19:29 [3] 16.0 km (4:58 / km)
ahr:140 max:158 weight:83.3kg shoes: Nike Air Pegasus26

After not doing it for 3 weeks got back to my regular run home. Also had a cancel so got going a bit earlier, less rushed and more light. Felt like just plodding along but time was 3-4mins quicker than every other time. Maybe stopped watch and forgot to start again? Not sure. Anyway good to have the time out for running.

After the soccer morning I basically just slept straight through my running alarm this morning. No chance. Not really a drama with 3 good runs over the long weekend and I suspect that was somewhere in my clouded mind when I turned the alarm off.

Running 58:43 [3] 12.0 km (4:54 / km)
ahr:143 max:169 shoes: Nike Air Pegasus26

Got up at 4.15am and over to Robs to watch Socceroos with Rob, DaveM & Max. The bagels were good, and the coffee. The less said aboutt he socceroos the better. Germany far too good. So trying to shake off the tiredness and poor performance we headed out running (not Max) up Al's track, then back up spur to circumcision track and down through CSIRO to Robs. Not much traffic and the -3 was fairly nippy. Nice view of the rising sun and Canberra from one point on Al's track. Run v good for waking up.
