Running 1:39:19 [3] 15.0 km (6:37 / km)

An interesting long run with Hoggster at Thredbo. We had planned to drive up to Cascade Hut track and run there but tardiness out of bed and stormy skies put us off that plan. Instead we ran somethin called Merritts Traverse which did not match Hoggsters description of a "flatter run". If it was I'd hate to have seen the steep one! I struggled for whatever reason so must've been semi-delirious when I agreed to the Hoggsters plan of running across the hillside to the track just below Eagles Nest, which we could see. Heather running was intermittent but ok until we hit a stream which the aforementioned storms had turned into some sort of raging torrent. We walked/trekked our way up the creek looking for a place less dangerous to cross and eventually found one that looked survivable. In a moment a lot less touching than it sounds, I held Hoggsters hand while he found a footing in the middle of the rapids and then, when he said he was firmly in place, clambered across using the Hoggster as a sort of handrail. Hoggster then dragged himself up onto the bank without assistance. From there a bit of heather-fighting down to the path we had been aiming for and back down a picturesque nature trail to the village. A run to remember. The time is a bit inflated as I forgot to stop my watch while we were searching for a place to cross the creek and I managed to stop and clear Hoggsters watch while I was using him as a handrail!

Running 1:04:30 [3] 10.0 km (6:27 / km)
ahr:147 max:169 shoes: Nike Air Pegasus26

At Thredbo for a few days so did the traditional opening-Thredbo run of up to Dead Horse Gap and back with Hoggster, Walders and Searlo. Nice day for a run and I felt good. Plenty of greenery and plenty of walkers which meant our speed was slowed at times. Walders showed some good form for a bloke who runs about twice a year and Searlo hung on well.

Note

Drive to thredbo. NTB with a long sleep and then some DVD watching but Zoe lost it in the last section between Corryong and Thredbo with intermittent screaming and crying. *sigh*. no time nor desire for running!

Running 6:37 [3] 0.5 km (13:14 / km)
ahr:113 max:131 shoes: Nike Air Pegasus26

I'm putting this down despite time. Set out from Mum&Dads for a 40minuter and was running along footpath in their street when felt sharp pain in right achilles - a bite. Bizarrely it was like I froze mid stride and consequently hit the ground hard losing a fair bit of skin of both knees. Went home and got a pep-talk from Belinda (no sympathy) and set out again but not far down street bite mark was throbbing and swelling and with blood streaming down one knee in particular I thought discretion the better part of valour.

Running 1:31:18 [3] 18.0 km (5:04 / km)
ahr:131 shoes: Nike Air Pegasus26

Fairly slow run from Mum&dads along Plenty River, a loop up into Yallambie then back along plenty river to greensborough then back again(!) to Monty. Did yesterdays hill 3 times. It was middle of the day and pretty hot, on the edge of too hot for sensible running. My old Primary school has a huge locked fence around it now so couldnt do my usual tour of the facilities - must feel like a jail schooling there now!
