Running 25:03 [3] 4.0 km (6:16 / km)
ahr:122 max:138 shoes: Nike Air Zoom Elite

We went out to MTB-O today but I didnt get a chance to get out (not too shattered) so went for a recovery crawl half-lap of Aranda. Achilles pretty tight and sore with general tiredness and stiffness elsewhere. Pace was snail-like.

Running race 1:33:53 [5] 20.0 km (4:42 / km)
ahr:164 max:178 shoes: Brooks Cascadia 4 (Tractors)

Orroral Crossing 20k Mtn run. Started out feeling fairly ordinary in the legs, somewhat unexpectedly. Kept with Devil thinking i might warm up but after 10mins or so when the hills started I realised it wasnt gonna change so decided needed to conserve a bit till I came good. Devil was gone, I passed a dude and plugged on. Got to the top of the main and only big rise to see LHD (legionnaire hat dude) and a Corliss behind me. Downhill for a fair while then so i rolled down the hill but LHD caught me at the drinks at the bottom of the hill. Run then turned off the fire trail and onto grass trails back along Orroral Valley. LHD got 10 metres or so in front but then I seemed to find a decent rhythm, maybe with LHD to race against and 32k runners like Frogga and MissJ coming back. Rhythm was good, I felt a bit better and finished the final 1/3 pretty well, putting a gap into LHD who finished about 20s behind me while the Corliss fell in a big hole to finish 10mins back. I even finished 3rd to get a bottle of plonk as a prize. A nice run although not sure why I didnt feel too flash for the first two thirds.
Drive home with devil and stopped with MissJ, Sanders and Frogga at a nice cafe in Chifley who's name escapes me now. Nice vibe, nice conversations and coffee was ok. MissJ and Froggas chips were v nice. Nicely tired now feeling that touch of sun that you get on such days.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)

Running 19:02 [3] 4.0 km (4:46 / km)
ahr:129 max:145 shoes: Nike Air Zoom Elite

Morning half lap of aranda, shrunk by running into friend and walking with her for a little while. Felt fine although hayfever has set in good and proper - dunno what it is about the Pinnacles but there is something there (probably the grass) that sets me off.

Orienteering race 30:01 [5] 5.8 km (5:11 / km)
ahr:165 max:177 shoes: Brooks Cascadia 4 (Tractors)

Started poorly in the wrong head space and lost about 30s on the first. Gave myself a good talking to and found some rhythm. Nice to start Summer Series not feeling like I cant remember how to orienteer. Miss Jones informed me she beat me by 20s which was a blow but she tried to lift my spirits by saying Hoggster was only a minute ahead. Beat RobW - he should go round coaching some newbies every week.

Cycling 1:20:00 [3]

Cruise to and fro work. Some bastard crossed Lady Denham drive before me but then pulled over and waited for me to pass, presumably so I could cop the pipi swooping. I was onto him though and called him on it. The Pipi must've shown me some respect and didnt swoop but unfortunately didnt swoop the other bloke either. Rode him off my wheel up Aranda Hill (admittedly that wasnt very hard as his bike looked like it was built not long after Mulga Bill).

Running race 15:11 [5] 2.8 km (5:25 / km)
ahr:168 max:180 shoes: Nike Air Zoom Elite 4

Black Mtn run up. Warm up based around it being fairly warm in the car when i drove there. Started out with strong sledging from Patrick but countered by sledging Andy. Not sure why that worked but it shut Patrick up. Felt horrendous in last hard section but survived beating Graham and Patrick. Hoggster well outta sight. Did more like 14.45 last time - there was a head wind, and the grass was a bit long but....

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)
ahr:135 max:179 shoes: Nike Air Zoom Elite 4

Andy and I ran straight back down to snaffle time for coffee at Botanic Gardens.

Note
(rest day)

Had to get home quick so Belinda could get out and so no scope for riding to work. Got a reasonable weeks training planned so that softened the blow.
