Orienteering race 1:51:07 [5] 15.1 km (7:22 / km)
ahr:164 shoes: Brooks Cascadia 4 (Tractors)

Vic Champs at Crocodile Reservoir (now called something else), again shocking weather. I made an absoute shocker mistake on the way to the 2nd- I was doing some planning ahead and got completely disorientated and lost at least a minute. The benefit was Waz caught me so started running with him. When I say 'with' I mean running with but Warren was doing nearly all the navigating. We settled into a solid pace, talked about kids and his courses yesterday until about half way. Caught and quicly passed Lachlan Hallett and Toph. I think waz sped up a bit then but I hung on v well until about 4 controls and 2k when the band broke and I struggled home, paying for the extra exertion of trying to hang on. Pretty reasonable result for me even beating Reuben and Patty Saile for 1st time in a while. Can't really take the credit though as I benefitted from Waz's still silky smooth technique. Pleased with showing some mental strength and hanging on for a fair while when I was rooted.

Orienteering race 52:10 [5] 6.4 km (8:09 / km)
ahr:169 max:182 shoes: Brooks Cascadia 4 (Tractors)

Aust. Middle Dist Champs at Chewton Diggings. Good course on wet and miserable day with plenty of variety and tonnes of gold mining technique required. I wasn't quite up to it for the first 3 or 4, particularly the 1st where I probably lost 90s. Started to find my technique at about 1/3 mark and after that a few very good controls and the rest reasonable. I enjoyed the constant focus required with so much detail but disappointed by poor start and not enough technical preperation to show my best. Great to be back at Chewton- as a 7 yo I used to kick goals on the chewton footy oval while Dad helped make the original map. Patty Saile got to hear that story on the way to the start the lucky sod.

Terrain Running 47:01 [3] 9.0 km (5:13 / km)
ahr:140 max:157 shoes: Brooks Cascadia 4 (Tractors)

Usual Wednesday run with Hoggster although this time I dragged him into the terrain. Required extra dragging as it had been raining all night, was still drizzling and the bushes were wet. We went through Aranda Hill, a 10min or so loop in Black Mtn and then back along edge of aranda. Might be my last run before weekend as usually v busy at work on Thursday and Friday will be a travel day.

Was fairly time-poor today and not such a bad day to have a rest day.
