Orienteering 1:22:10 [4] **** 8.2 km (10:01 / km)
ahr:162 max:175 spiked:7/16c shoes: Brooks Tractor

OY at Sandhills. Ran course 2 as didnt think my motivation would extend to the 12k Course 1. This was a wise move. Course was very criss crossy (Dwayne Bagere would've gone nuts) over the top and side of the main Birkenburn Hill. Quite rocky under foot. I made many mistakes approaching controls having real difficulty relating the detail on the map to that in the terrain. Physically I felt really good - strongest through the terrain I have felt for a long time. As a cosnequence I quite enjoyed it despite my myriad of mistakes and the course going up and over the same steep adn rocky gullies over and over. Classic Canberra Day.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3] 4.0 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adreneline

Warm up and down including running 1.5k to the start with Scotty. Good to catch up. he chastised me for doing Course 2 but I notice he DNFed Course 1 so I rest my case.

Note

Spent half the course thinking of the Gunna Doo Bakery in Bungendore and stopping there afterwards. You cant think of the Gunna Doo without thinking of RobWalt so i had planned to order a pie and ice coffee Big M as he would have done. Once there I did indeed order the pie but for beverage went for the 'Mocha' 600ml Big M. I was concerned I was going against Rob's Gunna Doo traditions but I know he knows I'm a sucker for a gimmicky new looking thing so feel he would have been happy with that.
For Rob's info the gunna Doo has gone a bit upmarket. There were about 6 teenage girls in fancy uniforms working behind the counter and all these fancy cakes that I dont reckon used to be there. Bloody toffs. (I had a mini blueberry cheese cake).

felt ok in wup.

Running race 24:06 [5] 6.0 km (4:01 / km)
ahr:174 max:180 weight:82.5kg shoes: Nike Air Zoom Elite

XC at Campbell Pk. Wasnt good. thought I should do a race pre-Half Mara next weekend and as a result I'm not going to be too worried what I do in Half Mara. Felt Ok for 1st 2k or so but noticed my HR was higher than I would expect - say mid170s when for the pace I was doing I would expect mid 160s. Felt progressively worse from there - just no speed or speed-endurance in my legs. Course was virtually all uphill on way out. Felt dead in the legs at the end, swimming in lactic. Its hard to understand really - marathon was 3 weeks ago and really have felt better this week. Maybe also in the 2 weeks before marathon I didnt do too much training and not too much since so perhaps that is contributing.
Way out: 12.22 (171/179)
Back: 11.43 (177/180)

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Noone up for Tour de Pete this morning other than me so slept in a little and did a lap of the lake essentially. ended lap by riding up through Yarralumla to Deakin where I have stumbled across a coffee shop I like. I think its called Double Shot Espresso Bar and makes coffee I like. Been there 3-4 times now and consistently good coffee. Have also met Alan the barista and owner and he seems very nice.

Note

I think I may have broken my intensive fuit reigime. I know everyone reading my trog is dying to know ;). Anyway Belinda pointed out that on Wednesday night when we were riding home I sai dI needed to have some fruit that night coz I hadnt during the day and well she pointed out this morning that she didnt think I did have fruit that night. And seeing I cant recall having fruit on wednesday it suggests the run is broken. None-the-less the resolution served its purpose adn I am now a very regular fruit eater.

Running 41:27 [3] 8.0 km (5:11 / km)
ahr:137 max:159 shoes: Brooks Adreneline

easy morning run with the Hoggster & Pippa doing a reverse classic. Was planned for intervals however when I made sookie comments about cbf doing ints Hoggster, instead of his usual rebuff, replied with he didnt give a stuff. So obv I blame him for wimping out of ints.

Nice morning though - not too cold.

really back on the bike now.

Running 23:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:45 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adreneline

around aranda ovals as wup and back through bandjalong (?) to home.

Running hills 25:00 [5] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adreneline

8*DS Hills. By myself as Hoggster adjusts to life with Ella. Might need to do a few morning sessions to be able to stick with my training partner - we'll see, early days.
Good session. I think I often get a bit mentally weak when doing these sessions by myself => do 6 instead of 8 or short hills or slowly. THis time knuckled down despite still feeling my legs from weekend. Good solid hills. Hills:
1.19(132/161), 1.19(137/163), 1.16(143/166), 1.17(143/166)1.19(142/164), 1.17(143/165), 1.19(141/164), 1.15(145/167)
