Running long 2:08:15 [3] 25.0 km (5:08 / km)
ahr:139 max:164 shoes: Asics Kayano

Met Clare and Dion out at Lysterfield NP. Liggo flew to Cambodia to avoid running with me - not sure whether this is an insult or a compliment. My tour guide (Clare) very kindly provided me with a map and ideal run instructions before riding off with Dion. I didnt realise how big the park was - I would not have run on 1/4 of the tracks in my 2hr run. About 4k to go on the run there was a very long uphill and that really stuffed me, esp. as my tour guides 100min run had become 2 hours and therefore I was late. Luckily the TG and Dion scooted past me on the downhill so I wasnt the only one running late.

Running intervals 30:03 [5] 7.0 km (4:18 / km)
ahr:141 max:171 shoes: Asics Kayano

Up at 5.20am and not back in bed till 1.30am Sunday morning and still only 30mins available for a run! and I was impressed that I had the committment to make sure I ran. Did 8laps of Montmorency Oval running 1 lap hard then 1/2 a lap float. Felt good for most of the session and well-and-truly spent at the end. Ideally this session is more laps however seeing tis the 1st time I've done the session for about 4 months and I had to get to U2 concert I figured it was a good way to build back into it.

Black Mtn lunch time loop solo. Bit nippy. felt fresher than last week. think having rest day on wednesday works better for training, just not necessarily for work.

Running warm up/down 21:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Persus

7min wup & 14 wdown. also did 10min stretching after w-down as Jo & I made a pact we would do 10min "proper" stretching after each xc.

Running race 20:31 [3] 5.0 km (4:06 / km)
ahr:166 max:178 weight:84.5kg shoes: Nike Air Persus

XC at Weston Park. Not as good as last week. Course was all on grass and had some undulations to it. Felt a bit leg weary in warm up and was hoping it would go away once race started but to no avail. Went out in 10:11 (161/170) and back in 10:20 (171/178). Raced the whole way back with Jo - she pulled up to a stride or so behind me about 50m after the turn around and was literally breathing down my neck until approx. 200m to go when she surged past. Cunningly I hung on to the miniscule of effort I had left until about 50m to go and "sprinted" past to beat her. I think I had the actual victory but Jo the moral one. I'll need to work hard in coming weeks to hold her off and to get back under 20.

Note

Searlo watch: he ran XC in about 22.30. I was on the start line not listening to starters instructions when I looked over the shoulder to see dave storm over having just parked his car.....
