MTB 1:24:06 [3]
ahr:109

Belinda and i (! - girls a Bob&Judes) went out to Sparrow Hill and rode the tracks. We were inspired by Walters/Jones ride on Boxing Day. The tracks have got more definite since our last visit. It was practically my first single track effort in 2008 so was bit ordinary although I didnt come off. Belinda did have to do a lot of waiting though! Coffee in Kingston afters was terrif (the coffee itself wasnt that flash but quiet time with Belinda and the paper was).

Note

Following Dr Trewin's lead I looked up this years training compared to last. Total volume of training down but interestingly I did more ks of running. basically a massive reduction in cycling due to time it takes away from parenting duties and I guess the increase in ks run is b/c I still go for 40min runs on the days I previously did 90min rides. Of course, now that I think about it, in 2007 I trained up for the LifeCycle charity ride from Syd to Cbr so that would have made a big diff. The other noticeable thing is a decrease in the number of high intensity sessions.

Running 1:22:34 [3] 16.0 km (5:10 / km)
ahr:135 max:161 shoes: Saucony Triumph 5

Run with the Jones sisters from Al's place. Along lake edge, Anzac Parade, stopped and read the sign at the lighning bolted Lone Pine, up Ainslie and drink at the top, although not for shannon who is too fit. Back down run up course, Anzac Pde and then across town to Al's. Nice longer mid week run. New Years resolutions were discussed with not too much conclusion.

Running 41:30 [3] 8.0 km (5:11 / km)
ahr:139 max:155 shoes: Saucony Triumph 5

Reverse classic with Hoggster at 715pm. Bit flat but Hoggster was clattering along so we kept a reasonable pace.

Running 1:41:14 [3] 18.0 km (5:37 / km)
ahr:144 max:173 shoes: Saucony Triumph 5

mobile mothers group run with Al as I downloaded about last few days. Twas great - felt refreshed afters despite lack of sleep. We ran from my house up DS Hill and over Aranda Hill, Rani Rd, Black Mtn (walked push bike hill), concrete path down, Little Black Mtn, Bruce Ridge, Calvary, Gossan Hill and home. As mentioned felt better by the end.

Coffee at Cafe Jase using the Breville Cafe Roma and Vittoria Coffee. Produced some really good coffee although fished too obviously with Belinda and ALJ for compliments and got slapped in the face and compared to Kerryn Jones as a result.

Running 37:36 [3] 7.0 km (5:22 / km)
ahr:142 max:159 shoes: Saucony Triumph 5

Lap of Aranda plus diversion to Dexter St and Jammo for newspapers. Humid. Pretty quiet round the Berra but a few people about.

Running 13:19 [3] 3.0 km (4:26 / km)
ahr:131 max:150 shoes: Saucony Triumph 5

Run too short to count as training but I'm putting it in anyway. 1/4 lap of Aranda.

Note
(rest day)

first Xmas Day in a long time that I haven't been for a run. THought I might sneak out after girls gone to bed but Z took a long to go to sleep. Besides had to give time for plum pudding ice cream to digest.

Merry Xmas APers.

Running 23:04 [3] 4.0 km (5:46 / km)
ahr:129 max:150 shoes: Saucony Triumph 5

Half a lap of Aranda. Rotten day. Put on new shoes from Runners Shop sale to get a lift. Felt light.

Note
(rest day)

NO running today. Had to go to Childrens Hospital in Sydney with Zoe to get her hip assessed by specialist. Only got in thanks to good work of Matt Sherlock. Went about as well as could be hoped but outcome is little Zoe is in a harness which keeps her hip in a set position. it actually keeps virtually her whole body in a set position so neither her nor her parents are pumped as a result. Unknown how long she will be wearing the thing, but it'll be months. If you're keen here is a piccy of harness: http://orthopedics.about.com/od/pediatrichipinjuri...

Twin Pram Running 33:51 [3] 6.0 km (5:39 / km)
ahr:146 max:165 shoes: Asics GT2120

Twin pram run with Em & Hoggster. Aranda blob route with variation run over the col. The heat, a few hills and pushing 30kgs (~15kg pram + 14kgs of twins) made for hard work tonight. Put in a bit of a surge up Walu Place to keep me honest. Em and Hoggster probably didnt realise I was surging.

Cycling 1:32:39 [3] 36.0 km (2:34 / km)

Belinda in Sydney still this morn so no long run or Tour de Mountain for me. Instead went for a road ride this arvo once she returned home. From home, through Coppins, up Mt Stromlo, inspected the information signs about the fires then back home the easier way via the Weston Creek bike path. Nice to go for a ride as something different with really only commuting in the last 6 months. Not an especially long ride but my non-bike legs were a little weary by the end. Listened to Sth Africa march to victory on the radio while riding.

Twin Pram Running 38:10 [3] 7.0 km (5:27 / km)
ahr:138 max:163 shoes: Nike Air Span

Belinda was making a flying visit to Sydney so Abby, Zoe and I filled our time running with Em and the Hoggster. Usual Aranda pram route starting out through the gated community of South Bruce. Hoggster and I both in spanking new santa-provided running tee shirts. Makes you realise just how crusty the old ones are!

Cycling 53:00 [3]

An amalgam of rides. In to work, out to lunch and back and then after work to friends for a Xmas beer. Havent been on the bike for ages!

Busy day of work and christmasing. I entered 21E for Easter today so hopefully that will inspire soem training in the New Year.

Running 36:36 [3] 7.0 km (5:14 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Span

Blair's lap of Aranda between getting home from work and belinda getting home from Summer Series. Nice to do an evening yog. Be nice to run for longer than about 35mins this week but it just aint gonna happen!

Tuesday Dec 16, 2008 #

Running 34:02 [3] 7.0 km (4:52 / km)
ahr:143 max:159 shoes: Nike Air Span

Ran home with Em. We stopped at the city-end of Darambal st when we bumped into Belinda and a friend walking prams. Pretty cruisy.

Monday Dec 15, 2008 #

Running 21:28 [3] 4.0 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: Saucony Triumph 4

Squeezed in a run from the Allisons once girls had gone to bed and before Shep's birfday dinner. The famous Allison-girls to-the-gate-and-back run on red hill. Quite a few people out walking dogs etc and the Federal Golf Club fairways looking terrific.

Sunday Dec 14, 2008 #

Running long 1:23:04 [3] 17.0 km (4:53 / km)
ahr:144 max:173 shoes: Saucony Triumph 4

Longish Cockatoos run. Smaller group this week of Devil, Sanders, JLA, GrantM and Morten-the-Dane, a new comer and mate of Rob Plowbums who has moved to the Berra. Actually I reckon he runs a bit like plowbum did post-elite days. Round the back of Ainslie-the-suburb, up Ainslie, HH and then a loop of the pines. Small group whittled down as we went with Sanders cramping atop Ainslie and JLA & Morten retiring after HH. I felt pretty flat but chugged along and could've kept going if there was more enthusiasm amongst the group.

With smaller group and recent complaints about DeliMarx and Sfoglia we took Devil's idea of Satis in Watson. Highlight was when I had just finished regaling the troops with my tale of last visit to Satis when I got free coffee and out came 2nd coffee for me!!!! Sweet - 2 visits to Satis, 2 free coffees.

Running 35:12 [3] 7.0 km (5:02 / km)
ahr:137 max:157 shoes: Saucony Triumph 4

Lap of Aranda breaking up a full day of parenting. Quite chilly and wet after all last nights rain.

Friday Dec 12, 2008 #

Running 57:04 [3] 11.0 km (5:11 / km)
ahr:144 max:157 shoes: Nike Air Span

Run from work at Civic out to Fyshwick to pick up car from service. Steady rain the whole way. I had planned to ride (changed plan when saw weather forecast) so was not organised enough for run and had v.heavy back pack. Great to run in the rain. One section of the bike path on old dairy road (?) was absolute snail-city. they were everywhere and on the go. Nice to do a run longer than about 20mins after a crap weeks training.

Thursday Dec 11, 2008 #

Note
(rest day)

Was planning to run at lunch but when I got in realised I had a meeting in Tuggeranong at lunch time. No running for me today.

Wednesday Dec 10, 2008 #

Running 27:33 [3] 5.0 km (5:31 / km)
ahr:128 max:143 shoes: Nike Air Span

Trot round Cook & Aranda after girls in bed. Needed it after mildly stressful day at work. Found organised hybrid-AFL games ("rec footy") going on at Aranda Ovals. Might have to find out about it so can relive my glory days as a Half Forward Flanker for Yallambie Primary.

Tuesday Dec 9, 2008 #

Running 36:15 [3] 7.0 km (5:11 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Span

Ran home with Em. Despite yesterdays comment and feeling no after-effects from Sunday while walking round my legs did protest a little at running. The biggest obstacle though was my work Xmas lunch. I had the cafe's steak sandwich (turkish bread, home made mustard, onion plus beer battered chips) which was great at the time but less-great when heading up the hill behind CSIRO.

Monday Dec 8, 2008 #

Note

Life got in the road of any exercise today. Felt pretty good given yesterdays epic.

Sunday Dec 7, 2008 #

Running long 3:01:43 [3] 30.0 km (6:03 / km)
ahr:144 max:168 shoes: Saucony Triumph 4

Massive group of Cockies for Xmas run. Miss Jones had a bunch of chrissy-paraphernalia which got the run underway and we were off. I was a bit wary post-illness but felt normal so kept going. Majura and Ainslie then down through Civic, lap of OA conference, Botanic Gardens and up Black Mtn. Was trying not to extend myself too much and after stopping for a natural break at base of Black Mtn I slowly made my way up off the rear of the field. From Black Mtn a well-chosen route from Miss Jones back through CSIRO and David St and back along edge of Ainslie-Majura reserve. Was weary at the end but no particularly painful spots. Some good breaks at top of peaks helped and especially the water as it starts to get warm. Only disappointment for the day was cinamon toast at deli marx - awful. At least Jose was there to catch up with about his move to Canberra.

Saturday Dec 6, 2008 #

Twin Pram Running 27:38 [3] 5.0 km (5:32 / km)
ahr:127 max:150 shoes: Nike Air Span

Feeling good enough that time to test running to see where I'm at for cockies long run tomorrow. Ran to Jammo for a DVD return and letter post then to Hoggsters to say G'day to Family-Hoggster and TQ who was visiting. Felt bit average but only the havent-run-for-a-few-days-average.

Friday Dec 5, 2008 #

Note
(sick)

on the mend but not back to full strength yet. Hopefully I've lost some weight. unsure about Cockies 3 hour 3 peak run on Sunday. See how I'm going.

Thursday Dec 4, 2008 #

Note
(sick)

starting to feel like coffee again so hopefully thats a sign of improvement.

Tuesday Dec 2, 2008 #

Running warm up/down 46:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:45 / km)
ahr:135 max:171 shoes: Nike Air Span

Run to base of Ainslie and then from peak back to work. Run back was in part with Scotty which took me back to old days of trying to keep up with him coming back from 3*8 intervals. The man only has two gears - fast and very fast.

Running race 15:12 [5] 2.7 km (5:38 / km)
ahr:166 max:175 shoes: Nike Air Span

Mt AInslie Run up - end of year Handicap special. Wasn't sure whether to do it as had been feeling a bit off-colour but I was pretty keen so went with some concerns. Time was a bit slow but felt like I was chugging along ok. Felt very hordinary in the arvo so mightn't have been overly wise to run.

Monday Dec 1, 2008 #

Cycling 53:00 [3]

commuting. bumped into (not literally) Miss Jones at O'Connor Ridge in pretty much the same spot we last bumped into (not literally) each other. Discussed her ankle-breaking-phobia.
