Running intervals (Mona's Fartlek) 35:00 [4] 8.3 km (4:13 / km)
shoes: New Balance M870 BY3

Mona's fartlek behind the beach at Buddina with a good warm-up. Achilles felt ok, fitness ok too, better than I feared. All-in-all a promising session.

Strength & Conditioning 5:00 [3]

Usual calves, this time following a session on my new RumbleRoller which is a slightly insane version of a foam roller. Achilles pain was maybe slightly elevated today.

Running 45:00 [3] 7.3 km (6:10 / km)
(injured) shoes: New Balance M870 BY3

Chrissy morning run after a tasty breakfast of sparkling and croissants, which unsurprisingly didn't contribute to feeling good on the run. This run was similar to the last one, spent half trying to work out what I can do about the Achilles, but having some success finished off with 3 surges of a couple of minutes (time and pace is a guess as my GPS is still borked and I don't have a backup) at a bit slower than 5km pace. This was the best workout I've done in a few weeks and it felt pretty good to be able to do it.

I reckon the Achilles issue is being confused by one or two other things. Thing 1 is whatever the downward dogs are helping with and thing 2 is the tight bands in my calf, which are causing some pain low in my calf. Once I've addressed those on a run, the Achilles pain is pretty mild. We'll see how it feels tomorrow.

Running 30:00 [3] 4.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: New Balance M870 BY3

Achilles felt pretty good this morn, so decided to experiment with some running on consecutive days. Achilles started a bit sore, did some isometrics and downwards dog and it it improved quite a lot. Three isometric repeats actually seemed too many - it seemed better after only one or two. Did a set of increasing pace surges finishing with a good paced run through. It complained a bit during that but a short stop with some massage of the top of the soleus seemed to help and finished pain free.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 8.4 km (7:09 / km) +80m 6:49 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Elixir 8

Evening run around Chapel Hill. Achilles up and down. Soreness started developing early. Stopped for some eccentrics at about half-distance, which helped a bit. Did some dynamic stretching, didn't help, Did downward dog, which made a huge difference for a few minutes and then it started to get sore again.

Strength & Conditioning 5:00 [3]

Calves - one-leg 3 x 12 @ 6kg, bent and straight leg. Did a bit of massage around the tendon and stretching afterwards. After the outcome of the downward dog experiment earlier, I did some back stretching too.
