NOL Long at Chinaman's Flat. It's a pity I wasn't fit and racing higher up the field but this was another fun race. In the spirit of this weekend, I approached this as training and was planning to pull out after a loop or two. As it turned out, the achilles, feeling none the worse for wear after the first two races, held in there and I kept being drawn to the challenge of the next set of technical controls until eventually I decided I may as well do the whole thing. Technically this was probably my best race of the weekend, I spent a lot of the course on my own and made only a couple of significant mistakes, maybe a couple of minutes worth but largely I executed the technical stuff pretty well and my control flow felt ok.

NOL Sprint at the Uni of Ballarat. Aim, as for the whole weekend, was to be smooth, practise good flow, and technique and not aggravate my achilles. So I took this one at a steady pace which made the nav rather easy though I still managed to make two suboptimal route choices and had one small concentration failure - I would guess about 20s lost all up.

NOL Middle distance at Specimen Hill. This was fun and I was generally pretty pleased with my race although I made a number of small errors, mostly 10-15s ones in the circle. Lessons learnt were: 1) Need to take care running on compass, and 2) Need to ensure I've had a good read of the control circle in gold-mining because getting into the circle isn't enough. I also confirmed that my fitness is terrible.
