This was intended to be run a close to the mountain runnning champs in length and ascent. It turned out to be a fraction longer (13.5 compared to 13.2) and quite a bit less ascent (550m compared to 735m) but still a good test. My legs coped fairly well but starting to get pretty fatigued and this might be exacerbated by the pace of the downhills in the race proper; I was taking them fairly easily today. I'm hoping to average about 5min/km in the race. I think it's a good goal for me, definitely a challenge.

Rose before the sun this morning to run up Mt Coot-tha via the standard route. It was still quite dark but light enough to see once I hit the forest, where I was pleasantly surprised to find someone had been through before me and cleaned up the spider webs. Kept a good steady pace on the way up and a fast enough pace on the way down to make my quads fatigue.
