Cyclones long run with the Cylones finally! Ran with Kieran, Macca, and Rachel from Wendy's place up Malcuta, Simpons Falls, then down Jacksonia to the Gap Ck car park (I was flagging already), then back up via Kokoda (was so stuffed I could barely walk up the steepest point), along the road to the lookout, down Slaughter Falls, and back to Wendy's along the road. Got dropped by Kezza along the top and then he went and did another big hill and I also got blown away by Rachel at the end after she'd caught up after taking a diversion. I managed to keep up with her for about 500m but then I was completely done and had to dig deep to finish the last 3km running. Good training.

Cyclones long run from Clares except the Cyclones forgot to turn up so it was only me and Clare but we trundled round usual sort of loop into Gap Ck and back to Clare's for yummy home made bread with jam, and coffee. I also ran from home to Clare's and back. I'm feeling a little bit like a runner again.

The lowlight of the run was copping an angry serve from an mtb-er after a near head-on collision at the top of Rocket Frog Tr. As there were only the two of us we figured we'd be okay running some of the mtb-only single trail. We came across quite a few bikes on the way up with no problems, we got off the trail and out of the way to let them past, but at the top Clare wasn't paying attention for a second and this guy came whizzing through. She jumped. He went off the edge of the track but got back on after a hairy moment. Correct me if I'm wrong but that track is two-way isn't it? The map at the parking area even suggests riding up it! So we where on foot, which is against the rules, but what if we'd been on bikes? It would have been an accident for sure.

Strength & Conditioning 15:00 [3]

Planned to go to Night-O but usual things got in the way. Did 2/3 of the squat routine. These are feeling a bit more comfortable but I need to work on the wobbles.

Cyclones long run ... only by myself. I had planned to run with the group from Bridget's but discovered too late that Gap Creek Rd was closed and I would have missed the group had I gone back around the other way. There was nothing to be done but park at the Reserve car park and go by myself. Did a quick loop of Cockatoo Trail and headed up Quail Tr, Highwood Rd, up to Channel 9, a short break at the lookout, then down Honeyeater, Bielby Rd, Bellbird, and back to the carpark.

Glutes felt a bit weary from the squats the other day to begin but did okay up the mountain and only a walked for a few metres just before reaching the road at the top - my best effort on this route up, as sad as that is. Legs fatigued after a quick descent down Honeyeater and was happy to reach the car.

Still not all that long but longer than last week and I'm happy with that.

Cycling (Commute) 38:00 [3] 13.5 km (21.3 kph) +85m

Cycled to work for the first time in months. I usually do these rides around threshold pace or a bit below but took it a bit easier. Was surprised actually that I felt pretty good.

Cycling (Commute) 38:00 [3] 13.5 km (21.3 kph) +145m

Ride home. The hills were hard and the sun was hot.

Either there was no Cyclones run yesterday or I missed out on the email but it didn't really matter because I looked after Ewan and let Megan have a sleep-in then and I went for a long run this morning instead. I had planned to run up Quail Trail and Highwood Road Trail but as I ran along the Bellbird Trail and hit the junction with the Kokoda Track I discovered I didn't have the motivation for a longer one and turned up the hill instead. I'd never been that way before and my next discovery was that it isn't a very nice running route, slogging straight up to the road, at times so steep you had to be a bit careful about foot placement for the risk of sliding back down the hill. Once up on the road, I ran to the lookout and then down via the Honeyeater Track. Not a bad run, felt alright and didn't get too tired, but not much motivation. I'll have to do the group runs from now on.
