Running 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

warmup

Orienteering 1:35:57 [3] 10.3 km (9:19 / km) +270m 8:14 / km

Terrible orienteering race: Felt ok for first 30 minutes, then more and more tired. Probably because I haven't run for more than 45 minutes in the past 10 weeks, at least I hope that's the reason. Also the weather was cold and windy, and the map not very good.

Positive points: Technique ok until I got tired (then 2 5-min mistakes), and the foot doesn't seem to have minded (which I guess is a great thing looked at objectively, but I just can't get much motivation going given the way I feel)

Running 45:41 [3] 10.5 km (4:21 / km)

the "usual" run, for time first time in 3 months. tough going, but not as slow as I thought (best ever around 43, but that was really fast!) - and the weather was amazing, sunset and 17 degrees

Note

Resume of winter training: A very easy Sep-Oct (3.5hrs avg), a pretty good Nov-Dec (4.5hrs) and very good Jan (5.5 hrs), but a screwed up Feb and Mar with no running (even though I kept the hours up ok with biking, sometimes getting to 6)

Shame that I am not improving on last winters great base, which I really felt coming through in the autumn.

If I want to seriously go to Japan 2005, I have to make sure next winter is at least 6-7 hrs on average, so that I can move to 8-9 in 04/05. It will be tough, but all depends on what happens workwise..who knows?
