Running 39:28 [3] 8.34 km (4:44 / km) +112m 4:26 / km
ahr:134 max:176

Average.

Went to Sainsbury’s today and it was akin to attending a funeral procession. If that doesn’t stop panic buying I don’t know what will.

Feeling stronger than usual

Running 57:42 [3] 12.62 km (4:34 / km) +114m 4:22 / km
ahr:141 max:162

Started slow, tired and headwindy; finished fast and flowing - mini fist pump!

Only bemol was that both calves were very tight - not enough to actually hurt but feels like it's close.

Running 1:02:45 [3] 13.01 km (4:49 / km) +121m 4:37 / km
ahr:148 max:185

Was meant to be 17k but I’m just not up for that at the moment - despite best efforts the whole situation is stressing me out somewhat (even though there really isn’t a reason to.)

Found a new recreation ground and some fun paths near Barnes Bridge - nice after so many years.

Joe Wicks workout with the kids. He does talk a load of rubbish, but it's a genius idea to get at least Tobi doing some exercises. And my butt and legs hurt afterwards, so can't have been that bad.

Running 59:30 [3] 12.62 km (4:43 / km) +112m 4:31 / km
ahr:139 max:162

Beautiful day in Richmond Park meant the social distancing thing was pretty hard / not working. Can’t be long until they close the park now methinks.

Weirdly the GPS went haywire for the last 3k and measured the run 400m short - never had that before.

Running 40:42 [3] 8.39 km (4:51 / km) +99m 4:35 / km
ahr:146 max:178

Weird times, eh?

Run felt better than expected for a change, although it was slowish. Looks like the right strategy for now is to build up speed again from a low base, rather than push hard every time. The other question I guess is at what age does maintaining 'standard' times become more difficult?!

Cycling 14:59 [3] 5.86 km (2:33 / km) +46m 2:28 / km
ahr:113 max:130

Home to Richmond station, on the way to the race. Reasonable fun.

Orienteering 51:36 [3] 9.24 km (5:35 / km) +159m 5:09 / km
ahr:136 max:163

CSC Heat on a very, very muddy Hampstead Heath. Advertised as 8.0/200.

The planner made a valiant effort to introduce some good route choice, so that was mildly fun (and I got through with no mistakes to speak of.) But I had zero juice in the tank, so that was less fun.
1 PM

Cycling 19:27 [3] 6.03 km (3:13 / km) +49m 3:06 / km
ahr:118 max:139

Back home, via the most excellent cheese shop. If everything breaks down at least I now have a good supply of Sottocenere al Tartufo.

Running 28:30 [3] 5.96 km (4:47 / km) +68m 4:31 / km
ahr:125 max:166

I was going to go for longer but wasn’t “feeling it”.

Cycling 30:33 [3] 11.89 km (2:34 / km) +32m 2:32 / km
ahr:117 max:132

Easy peasy. I keep getting overtaken by what my boss calls 'Rapha wankers' who are actually going quite fast, so I wonder how fast I could do this, if I had a decent bike and really tried.

Sadly I won't ever find out as my assignment ends next week so I won't be doing many more of these. Never thought I might actually miss the biking when it stops...
6 PM

Cycling 36:58 [3] 11.73 km (3:09 / km) +47m 3:05 / km
ahr:122 max:135

And a timely reminder that the evening return into a strong headwind, uphill, in the dark, when I’m tired, is NOT FUN.

9 AM

Running 1:27:18 [3] 17.3 km (5:03 / km) +195m 4:47 / km
ahr:129 max:163

Long and slow for a change, but as I haven’t done over 12k for 4 months it was the Right Thing To Do.

Lovely morning out and felt ok considering, although the 30s break on the last hill definitely helped.

Running 41:07 [3] 8.35 km (4:55 / km) +99m 4:39 / km
ahr:138 max:164

Lost my voice the last couple of days and generally a bit run down so this wasn’t the Sensible Thing To Do.

But the weather was lovely for a change, so I couldn’t resist. Still a mudbath out there, so the time was ok really.

7 AM

Cycling 29:37 [3] 11.81 km (2:30 / km) +32m 2:28 / km
ahr:129 max:155

Nice to see that even an ‘easy’ ride with bad traffic is now reasonably quick.
6 PM

Cycling 30:49 [3] 11.5 km (2:41 / km) +46m 2:38 / km
ahr:127 max:153

Weather nice and calm for a change. Shame about the nosebleed.

HH Burnham Beeches Brown, 11.2/250

Made a miraculous recovery from sore throat / wooziness of last couple of days to get round this surprisingly comfortably.

It wasn’t very fast but I had amazing flyt, bar a couple of small bananas. For a change, it was a beautiful sunny day and relatively runnable forest, which made it super enjoyable.

May we always run in sunlit forests...
