Gym 43:00 [4]

Tough workout, but felt good for a change. Correct decision last night not to work out but to get some decent sleep for a change!

The usual: 8min rowing (5m/3m)
20min elliptical (level 17 then 16of20) - 402 kcal
15min bike (level 11of12) - 162 kcal

Football 15:00 [5]

5x3 mins of indoor football. I can't play very well outdoors to start with so trying it indoors (smaller pitch = more technique required) wasn't such a good plan..also my butt hurts today from sprinting like crazy without a proper warmup

Running 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

I did do some easy running in between the matches

Sunday Jan 26, 2003 #

Running 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

Warmup/down for orienteering

Orienteering 1:01:01 [4] 10.0 km (6:06 / km) +100m 5:49 / km

Orienteering in Fontainebleau (as always I guess..) Very tired from last nights run, 3 1-minute mistakes, otherwise clean. Best time 47, apparently. It was very runnable but still decent for 10k..

Saturday Jan 25, 2003 #

Running 1:55:02 [3] 23.0 km (5:00 / km)

Long run to Bois de Boulogne at 7pm. Quite tired, but ok. Some stomach pain.

Gym 46:40 [3]

Really weak today, lack of sleep and stress catching up with me:

5mins rowing
17:40 elliptical 17/20. I just couldn't keep going for the last 2:20
20mins cycling (about half the calories of the elliptical)
4mins rowing

Running (Fartlek) 56:00 [4] 12.0 km (4:40 / km)

The usual run, plus two new extras. On the one extra there is space for another ~10 mins of running or so without crossing any more roads, looks nice too.

Fartlek was quite tough, did 1min fast, 30+30+30 secs very fast, 1 fast, 3 fast, 3 fast, 1 fast, 30+30+30 secs very fast, 1 min fast with various rest periods (slow to medium running) in between

Sunday Jan 19, 2003 #

warmup at orienteering meet

Orienteering 1:18:36 [4] 9.2 km (8:33 / km) +290m 7:23 / km

Orienteering at Fontainebleau> A very good run, not particularly fast but almost flawless>

Running 1:50:14 [2] 23.0 km (4:48 / km)

Long run to Bois de Boulogne. Felt very shit.

Strength 15:00 [3]

some upper body stuff in the evening. i am bionic man, need no sleep

Running 44:53 [4] 10.4 km (4:19 / km)

Fartlek at 10pm. Rain, wind, cold, but fast. Almost surreal really. Turned out very fast although I had at least half the run at "slow"level> Made me think of an article that I rad that a good way to run a marathon is to run for say 3 miles, and then walk for 30secs, and then repeat. Apart fro; the fact that no decent runner would ever be caught doing that, might it work?

Thursday Jan 16, 2003 #

Running 47:40 [3] 10.7 km (4:27 / km)

The usual run; in the morning this time. There was indeed a reason why I have stopped running in the morning, baaah. Possibly my slowest time ever for this run..

Gym 44:00 [3]

Lots of people today (hate those new-years-resolution-training people), so had to change the programme to:

5min rowing (warmup)
16min bike 11/12
5min rowing
15min stairmaster 9/10
3min running (warmdown)

The elliptical seemed especially popular today!

I also found out that the treadmill goes to 16kph max which will not be very much for interval training, unfortunately (just about enough for mile intervals but too slow for anything else)

Note

It's funny how a weekend's skiing can mess up a whole week's training:
-no training Thursday because I had to buy ski pants
-no training Friday because I was on the train
-no running on the weekend because I was skiing
-limited training today and tomorrow because I am dead tired from the weekend.

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [3]

Some more of the same, but with a longer lunch break this time

Saturday Jan 11, 2003 #

Downhill Skiing 1:30:00 [3]

At Val d'Isère. Now I know this is not supposed to be very good training for Orienteering but we did some fairly strenuous off-piste and I was sweating a lot, so I WANT some attackpoint "reward" for that!

Tuesday Jan 7, 2003 #

Gym 43:00 [4]

The usual, 8min rowing, 20 elliptical and 15 bike

Monday Jan 6, 2003 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

3 sets as usual. Felt pretty good, a little tired maybe but not surprising after yesterday's long run

Sunday Jan 5, 2003 #

Running 1:46:49 [3] 22.0 km (4:51 / km)

Long run to Bois de Boulogne. Everything is white after yesterday's snowfall, it's great!!

Saturday Jan 4, 2003 #

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3] 10.0 km (8:00 / km)

O Training in Fontainebleau. There were 6 of us and we did sort of a chasing start thing. Fun, except it started snowing towards the end

Friday Jan 3, 2003 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

3 sets. Felt a lot better than previously

Thursday Jan 2, 2003 #

Running 49:21 [3] 11.0 km (4:29 / km)

The usual route, again (twice in a row, both times for sightseeing purposes with visitors..). Even more wind today!

Wednesday Jan 1, 2003 #

Running 48:42 [3] 11.0 km (4:26 / km)

The usual route around Paris, with a few Fartlek parts, plus some extras. It's really warm and windy today.
