Note

Taking it easy these weeks..combination of a lot of things going on, and little motivation to train..will get back into it in the Autumn, no doubt. Until then, a break from the whole thing except for Orienteering online cup in 3 weeks

Running 1:00:30 [4] 12.0 km (5:03 / km) +200m 4:39 / km

great run in Meudon with Anthony. Fast at the end to catch the train, which this time we managed!

Running 14:00 [3] 2.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Sprinting to, and easy running from, the train station in Paris

Running 1:09:20 [3] 13.0 km (5:20 / km) +200m 4:57 / km

Run in Meudon with Neil and Abi. Nice forest and weather, if a little hot

Running 16:30 [3] 3.0 km (5:30 / km) +50m 5:05 / km

Another little loop in Meudon (missed the train, there wasn't another one for half an hour)

Saturday Jun 21, 2003 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

3 ok sets, a bit lacklustre

Wednesday Jun 18, 2003 #

Running 10:00 [4] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)

Mad dash to the train station to get out to Meudon, as the police had sealed off half of the 8th

Running 1:11:30 [3] 14.0 km (5:06 / km)

Run with Anthony in Meudon - a good!! run for a change, felt exactly like I should do, a little tired after Jukola but still with enough energy to fight up the hills

though that one killer hill at the end remained a killer

but a lovely run overall, perfect weather too

Orienteering 2:14:00 [4] 14.5 km (9:14 / km) +450m 8:00 / km

The Jukola, final leg for Team 2. A tough tough course, physically and mentally. Great to control 12 (catching up loads of people), then 2 big mistakes, loss of motivation and tiredness. An experience nonetheless, but I'm not sure I want to repeat it that quickly!!

Orienteering 45:24 [3] 5.6 km (8:06 / km) +150m 7:09 / km

Jukola training, felt good. Technically ok, too. Confident.

Running 45:01 [3] 10.5 km (4:17 / km)

The usual run around Paris. Decent time despite not pushing very hard, and despite the still sweltering temperatures..(28 degrees and high humidity)

Optimistic for Jukola!!

Strength 45:00 [3]

3 sets, body felt pretty good. could have done a fourth one, but it was getting late for dinner. looking forward to jukola!

Orienteering 1:29:29 [4] 12.1 km (7:24 / km) +415m 6:19 / km

Belgian 3-days, Day 3.

Aaaahhh, finally a *nice* day out again. Much nicer forest, more gentle contours, good runnability, and technically more interesting.

Felt stronger too, for some bizarre reason. Still 18 minutes down on the winner, but didn't push very hard (could have pushed a bit harder), technically very clean except one 2-min mistake, and generally just a lot more fun than recently.

Generally optimistic for Jukola. Technique is as good as it's ever been, especially if I take a goo along for half way (I tend to make most mistakes around 60 minutes running time when I lose concentration). Fitness is a little doubtful, but this is mostly true up steep hills. On the flat it's not too bad, so Finland shouldn't be too bad for that. And motivation is 100% of course..

Orienteering 1:58:35 [4] 10.7 km (11:05 / km) +645m 8:31 / km

Belgian 3 days, Day 2.

Extremely steep terrain, but not very technical (exactly not my type of stuff). I was thinking of giving up at control 6 already as it was 30 degrees C and just mindless hills (up 10 countours, straight back down again), but pushed through.

World Ranking event, I wouldn't have got more than 700 points (but haven't checked), still quite happy that I made it, was a real test of endurance and willower (the "why bother"-thought came forward many many times)

Overall very tired up the hills again, ok on the flat. Technically fine.

Orienteering 1:34:35 [4] 13.0 km (7:17 / km) +270m 6:35 / km

Belgian 3-days, Day 1.

Easy technically, medium runnability (standard continental terrain really). Felt ok for the first half, then getting very tired up the hills, so lost a bunch of time.

Running 13:00 [3] 2.0 km (6:30 / km)

Run to the start, I was late

Wednesday Jun 4, 2003 #

Running 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

various bits of running around, to the forest, to the train etc

Running 1:15:00 [3] 14.0 km (5:21 / km)

Around Meudon with Neil. Hot day. Felt crap, especially up the hills. Nice to be out nonetheless
