Running 1:35:03 [3] 13.0 mi (7:19 / mi)

Run in Cologne, Germany: Thought I would have to run around in many circles next to my dads house but it turned out that the small forest there is connected to a bigger forest so it was quite a nice run! Felt pretty decent, too

Gym 43:00 [3]

so i ama member of the local gym now. a pretty dreary place, without music and with low ceilings. hope to go at least once a week, ideally twice, once for cardio and once for strength.

8 mins rowing (warmup and down)
20 mins elliptical
15 mins step

Running 45:51 [3] 10.5 km (4:22 / km)

The usual run. Started off feeling good but tripped over my ankle again and had to stop for a few minutes before continuing more weakly. It's annoying because the lack of confidence in the ankle makes me run much slower because every step I am worried something will happen again..
also am probably pretty screwed because in contrast to earlier, my ankle doesn't swell up and the pain is below the ankle, almost on the foot. Abi tells me this means that my ligaments are screwed..

Strength 30:00 [3]

only 2 sets today, close to final presentation of project at work so reasonable sleep deficit building up. Hopefully I should have enough time to train later in the week

Sunday Nov 24, 2002 #

Running 5:00 [3] 0.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warmup/ down

Orienteering 1:11:11 [3] 8.5 km (8:22 / km) +200m 7:30 / km

Fontainebleau. Beautiful place as usual, reasonably good course although control inflation again at 26. Quite good start but then very tired and exhausted. Lost concentration and about 5 mins, plus loads of running speed. Hope it's just because I slept badly last night, not some sort of long term thing again

Running 1:35:00 [3] 12.7 mi (7:29 / mi)

Long run to and in Parc Montsouris / Cité Universitaire. Felt ok, a little tired towards the end. Left knee hurt for some reason.

Thursday Nov 21, 2002 #

Running 44:43 [4] 10.5 km (4:16 / km)

the usual run, in the evening this time. much nicer than in the morning, even though it's dark. first time under 45', either I'm getting faster or I'm gettin better at finding shortcuts..

Monday Nov 18, 2002 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

3 sets around midnight (damn consulting). Felt pretty good considering. Have however decided to become member of my local gym (near work) despite it costing me about $500 for the year..

Orienteering 1:18:24 [4] 10.7 km (7:20 / km) +270m 6:30 / km

Not a bad run but couldn't really get any "kick" going..wet weather and forest didn't help either.

Running 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warmup and down

Saturday Nov 16, 2002 #

Running 1:30:17 [3] 12.0 mi (7:31 / mi)

First long run of the season, in Paris. From home to Parc Montsouris (18mins one way), and then 3 loops at Cité Universitaire, 3 loops in Montsouris, and back.

The plan is to increase the length of the long runs by 5 mins a week until we get to 2.5 hrs in February

Thursday Nov 14, 2002 #

Running 46:25 [4] 10.5 km (4:25 / km)

the morning run. slower this time. I wonder whether running in the morning, in addition to being unpleasant, is actually worse for you than running in the afternoon, because the muscles are totally stiff from sleeping. When I run in the morning all my old niggle injuries seem to creep in again and stretching afterwards is a joke...

Monday Nov 11, 2002 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

Felt stronger than expected given tough race yesterday and night spent on the train..

Sunday Nov 10, 2002 #

Orienteering 1:10:37 [5] 10.3 km (6:51 / km) +150m 6:23 / km

Venice Park-O, the real thing. I love this race, and this year we had amazing weather too. Made for lots of tourists though, so had to walk a few bits (but not so bad as felt quite tired in places). Some hesitation but no major mistakes, a little slow unfortunately = 24th place of 70 in Elite. Fastest time 62, Marian Davidik. Mamleev did 67, Lauenstein 69 (bummer) and I actually beat some reasonable people like Harkanyi. Anyways, you guys must all come over one of these years.

Orienteering 18:42 [5] 2.8 km (6:41 / km) +30m 6:20 / km

Venice Park-O, warmup race. A pretty useless map (E side of Venice city) makes for full out sprinting. Best time 17.59

Running 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warmup and down, not enough

Thursday Nov 7, 2002 #

Gym 43:00 [4]

5 mins warm up on treadmill, 20 mins on bike, 15 mins on treadmill, 3 mins warm down on treadmill. very boring.

Wednesday Nov 6, 2002 #

Running 50:33 [3] 7.0 mi (7:13 / mi)

Running around near Chantilly, Paris where I'm on a training course. It was pissing it down and it was cold, but at least there was some forest..

Tuesday Nov 5, 2002 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

3 sets, felt relatively weak

Sunday Nov 3, 2002 #

Orienteering 51:11 [5] 8.6 km (5:57 / km) +180m 5:23 / km

A great race, beautiful day and super runnable woods. Shame about the bad planning, but lots of fun. Winner took 44.17, thats fast. I had about 2 mins of mistakes but no more

Orienteering 15:00 [3]

warmup and down

Saturday Nov 2, 2002 #

Orienteering 1:05:20 [3] 9.4 km (6:57 / km) +230m 6:12 / km

a 1;7.5 map and 32 controls, need I say more? Quite fun but felt pretty tired

Running 15:00 [3]

warmup and down

Orienteering 1:01:20 [4] 9.5 km (6:27 / km) +150m 5:59 / km

Day 1 of 3-day near Brussels. Nice forest, not too difficult. Winner 54, quite pleased (although I did cheat because there were no more controls there when I went around..but I found the white paper bits at most controls..
