Strength 1:00:00 [1]

StrenghtFit class. Went to the one at lunch that was total body instead of focused on a particular lift. That's probably better if I'm only doing it twice a week, but I need to see if I can make lunchtime work. We did deadlifts, walking lunges, dips, rows, sled pushes, and ab rollouts.

Switched to the 5:30pm class instead of 7:30am class today as I had a friend who wanted to try out the spin studio. Tough as always (did 4x4 minutes plus some extra sprint drills). Had a nice dinner afterwards :)

Since the StrenthFit class works on monthly cycles, this was our last time doing this particular set of exercises. I do think I've gotten stronger with neutral grip chin-ups, but still a ways to go. Other exercises were dips, lateral raises, dumbbell overhead press, and reverse crunches.

Downhill Skiing 1:00:00 [1]

Ski day with the same crew! Did some blues with my mom in the morning and then skied with the others in the afternoon. We had some amazing runs on 7th Heaven before it got too busy. It technically had been groomed, but it had snowed/was windy so it was a manageable amount of light fluffy snow. I think something in my technique is off as my quads were getting exhausted. Definitely don't feel like I'm back to where I finished last season at technically. My new boots are feeling better, but still a little tight in the left toes. Might need to go get them punched out. Exhausted after two days of skiing, so I was very happy to have Ian S driving back.

Ski day at Whistler with Mom, Oscar, Ian S, Kate H, and her friend Sarah. There was fresh snow, which is always fun. Got some good runs on Symphony before it got too crowded. I definitely don't know how to ski powder. Fun ski day!

StrengthFit class. Working on deadlifts again. Did 100 lb for 6 reps, 120 for 4 reps, and 130 for 2 reps. It's nice to have a trainer watch as you get into heavier reps to make sure your form is okay. Oscar signed up this class too with Classpass as I suggested it might be helpful for his deadlift form when he does them on his own at the gym. Accessory exercises were rows, neutral grip DB chest press, dead bugs, and bicep curls with the bar.

Ouf, did not feel recovered from last night for this. I'll need to assess how this goes. I really like the 7:30am time slot on Wednesday, and it also is nice to be able to do a class while I'm at my volunteer shift on Tuesday night since it breaks up the 4 hours and I'm there anyways. Two classes within 13 hours might be too much though. Was glad the class was front loaded today because I didn't know how I would manage an extra tough push at the end.

Was going to take a rest day today, but then Marco was a good influence and wanted to do a class this morning. Haven't done an endurance class in a long time and boy was it tough! Made it through though--phew!

StrengthFit class at Elite Performance. This day focuses on the military press before which I've never done. Need to work on keeping my elbows forward. The two rep max was hard (50lbs total for me) and my form broke down a little. Other exercises were weighted crunch, tank push, row, and push ups.

StrengthFit class. Thursdays focuses on deadlifts with the rep range 6,4,4,2. I was using the trap bar for a total of 110 lbs for the 2 rep range. I think I could go a little heavier, but since it was my first time doing heavy deadlifts wanted to start conservatively. Other exercises were neutral grip DB bench press, rows, dead bugs, and bicep curls. Super small class today because of the snow, which was nice for very personalized attention!

Oscar and I trudged through the snow to get to class. It started a little late as the instructor had to get over the bridge and the buses weren't running. Good class in the end with a variety of drills. Legs felt a little tired from class last night so started off with a low flat road gear.

Strenghtfit class. Still working on pull-ups and other upper body exercises. I tweaked something in my shoulder (only felt it after class), so hopefully it goes away soon.

My new volunteer shift is on Tuesdays, and fortunately the person I work with seemed fine if I take a class during the shift. It helps pass the time, especially as this is a much longer shift than what I initially was doing on Monday nights. Not quite sure the best schedule as I kind of wanted to do classes on Monday and Wednesday mornings, so that'd be 3 days in a row. I'll figure something out.

Skiing at Whistler with Oscar! The snow was pretty nice and the line ups were not as horrendous as I feared. I got new boots though and need to take them back to the boot fitter as they were really too tight in the toes, which was pretty uncomfortable. We mostly stuck to greens and blues to get back into it.

Spin class at Cyklus. First one in 3 weeks is always a bit of a shock to the system, but have to get started again. Good class though. Took my flat road gear down by one.
