Taekwondo 45:00 [2]

I went to a lunch class today, and apparently I'll get a private lesson every Monday. :) I just did forms, gibonjacks, and nunchucks but it's a lot harder when it's one on one with your instructor.

Sunday Oct 29, 2006 #

Strength (Y Step) 30:00 [1]

Did another Y Step class. It was slightly less confusing this time. :)

Strength (Step Class) 30:00 [1]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

Wow! That was the most complicated thing I've ever done. I went to a beginner step class at the YMCA, but apparently the normal teacher couldn't make it today so the lady who teaches advanced taught. It wasn't very hard physically but I couldn't mentally remember all the moves or keep up with what was going on. I'm going to try again this Sunday, so hopefully I'll get the hang of it.

Running (Around the Lake) 16:35 [2] 3.0 km (5:32 / km) +10m 5:26 / km
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

Ugh, what a crappy run. It was my first time running in 2 weeks and I felt really slow. I couldn't make my legs move faster and I felt sick (probably because I just ate lunch before...). Hopefully next time I go running I'll feel better. :)

Taekwondo 45:00 [3]

Did our warm-up, kicked pads, then did a drill on the heavy bag (my foot really started to hurt here), and finished it off with push-ups and sit-ups. Gosh, I'm so out of TKD shape!

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

As this was preprogrammed there was a lot more inclince than if I had been doing it by myself. :P

Strength 40:00 [2]
slept:6.0

Doing my new routine. For some reason I felt exhausted today! Some of the exercises that are normally easy enough were killing me. Probably because I didn't get enough sleep last night... Maybe?

Strength (Elliptical) 10:00 [2]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

Again, this was harder than I'd normally make it for myself, but it's probably good for me. :)

Biking warm up/down (Stationary) 10:00 [1]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

Wow was I ever going slow. I just sort of faded in the first couple of minutes.

Sunday Oct 22, 2006 #

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

I had a new program made for me at the Y. Did a 10 minute warm-up on a treadmill and then later in the day 5 minutes to play around with different speeds and inclines.

Strength (Elliptical) 10:00 [1]

I am suppose to do 10 minutes of cardio in between my leg exercises and arm exercises.

Strength (Step Master) 5:00 [1]

Was learning how to use the step machine. I did better when it was suppose to be harder...

Strength 8:00 [1]

I was learning how to use a machine called "The Wave".

Strength 35:00 [2]

Trying out various machines and exercises. This new program is a lot better than the old one I was doing. :)

Saturday Oct 21, 2006 #

Pilates 45:00 [3]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

I went to the Beginner Cyclefit this morning instead of the regular class. It was a lot better! I may go to this class more often than the regular for a while. Plus, the instructor was much more lively.

Thursday Oct 19, 2006 #

Pilates 1:00:00 [4]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

Went to a spinning class at the Y. I just about died! My legs started to burn in the warm-up and I'm not sure if I had as much tension as everyone else throughout the class. It didn't help that I forgot to bring a water bottle. I'm thinking about trying the Beginner's Cyclefit on Saturday with my mom.

Strength warm up/down 10:00 [1]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

I'm not sure what it is called but I warmed up on one of the cardio machines at the Y.

Strength 25:00 [2]

Usual 6 machines. This Sunday I'm having a 'personal consultation' to have a plan more suited for me.

Strength warm up/down (Elliptical) 10:00 [1]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

Cool-down on an elliptical machine.

Wednesday Oct 18, 2006 #

Taekwondo 1:00:00 [2]

We did with stepping drills, forms, basic kicks, self-defence, nunchucks and left 30, right 30 doubles 30 on the heavy bag. My foot where I cut it started to hurt after the left 30 from the impact on the heavy bag.

Aqua Fitness 1:00:00 [3]

Was a really hard class tonight! I was beat, especially because I didn TKD right before. We tried using gloves and 'palates' in this class, they were pretty cool.

Tuesday Oct 17, 2006 #

Strength 5:00 [3]

I didn't have time to go for a run today so to feel less guilty about not doing anything I ran up and down the stairs for 5 minutes. I tried to go as fast as I could on the way up and slow on the way down.

Strength 10:00 [2]

Biking warm up/down 10:00 [1]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

Warm-up on a stationary bike. My legs felt really tired...

Strength 25:00 [2]

Did the Leg Press, Lower Back Bench, Shoulder Press, Chest Press, Ab Crunch, and Vertical Traction. I increased the weight on some of the machines and it felt fine. Did two sets of 15 reps on each machine.

Biking 10:00 [1]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

I was going to use this type of step machine, but I couldn't figure out how to work it. I decided to bike instead (mainly because I had a book to read, and it's easier to read on the bike than treadmill or elliptical machine).

Orienteering race (NB Champs) 45:52 [3] 3.5 km (13:06 / km)
shoes: Orienteering Shoes (Jalas)

The New Brunswick Champs were in UNB Woodlot. I was planning on running course 4 (F17-19) but the meet director wouldn't let me (there is is rule that you aren't allowed to run two courses above your age class unless the meet director gives you permission) so I ran course 3 instead (F15-15). My course went pretty well, no major mistakes but there were a couple bingo controls, and the map was a little sketchy in some areas. A lot of controls on other courses were misplaced.

I'm pretty sure I had the fastest time on the course (we had to leave before everything was finished), but the was only one cadet in before I left. I'll try scanning my map later.

EDIT: Here's the map. You couldn't go by the vegetation at all! Control #5 I only drew part way to the control because it was in the wrong spot.

Running race (Cross Country Race) 15:00 [5] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

The NBIAA Cross Country Champs. It took place in Odell Park which is pretty hilly and it has been raining the day before and earlier in the morning to the grass on the race was pretty slippy. There were around 130 girls in the Junior girls (grades 9-10) and I came 60th. I guess I'm okay with the result but I know I could have raced a little smarter and pushed a little more. My main problem was that everyone sprinted out of the start and although I was going slower than most of the I still started way too fast. I got really tired half-way through the course. Oh well, for someone who didn't want to go to any cross country races this year I guess I did alright. My goal was not to come last and I managed to come in the top 50%! :)

On a sadder note cross country is over for the year. :( I need to make sure I keep running!

Note: They didn't post times up at the race and I forgot to time myself. The website which is suppose to have the results (www.anb.ca) doesn't seem to be working so I guessed the time... The winning time was done under 11 minutes by the New Brunswick 3km record holder.

Note
(rest day)

Um, yeah... I didn't really do much today either. We had cross country but we just ran over what was happening tomorrow and read and watched an inspirational story.

Note
(rest day)

Was having a lazy day. Plus, I had Back to School Night so I couldn't go to Aqua Fitness.

Running 13:56 [5] 3.0 km (4:39 / km)
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

We did our race distance today in cross country. I was suppose to my last two kilometres a lot faster than what I did but my shins and right foot got really really tight and I think that I'm still tired from the NAOCs. I took 10 seconds off the last time I did it though and that was with breaks between each kilometre.

Here are my kilometre times:
Kilometre 1: 4:39 (Time Goal: 4:40)
Kilometre 2: 4:42 (Time Goal: 4:30)
Kilometre 3: 4:34 (Time Goal: 4:20)

Orienteering race (Wine-O) 1:02:00 [3] **** 4.2 km (14:46 / km)
shoes: Orienteering Shoes (Jalas)

The Wine-O.

It started out fine. I was a little iffy at the beginning, mostly because I was too distracted by all the runners. Was going fairly well on the first map until control 6. Molly and I had been previously running together but the next controls were different. I sort of was swayed of my route choice when I saw her running in another direction. Spent the next 10 minutes trying to figure out where the heck I went. After that the rest of that map went fine.

Second Map: Because of my mistake I was way behind everyone else. I was hitting the controls dead on although moving slowly because my foot hurt whenever I ran. I was really pleased with how this map went. No major mistakes. I really need to learn to not pay attention to other orienteers.

Orienteering race 52:36 [4] **** 3.6 km (14:37 / km)
shoes: Orienteering Shoes (Jalas)

Long Distance:

Control 1: Right off the bat I made a mistake. I completely missed my attack point (a fence) and Molly Kemp caught up to me.
Controls 2-4: Molly and I were running together. I was definitely running a lot faster than what I normally would have. They went pretty well. A few couple second mistakes.
Control 5: Molly and I seperated some, I saw her going off in the wrong direction but stuck to my plan. Hit it dead on.
Control 6: I decided to trail run rather than cut through the woods because I was afraid that if I got off a trail I wouldn't find another (they were really indistinct). I was moving pretty slowly as the trails were complex and I didn't want to mess up.
Control 7: Went well, I had been there yesterday.
Control 8: Was moving slowly but hit it dead on.
Control 9: I had no idea which trail I came out on. Spent 3 minutes trying to relocate and eventually stumbled upon 8 again. Was sort of a shaky run to the last control. I wasn't sure which path I was on.

I was kind of dissapointed with my run. Molly beat me by 4 minutes and that was the four minute mistake that I had made going to the last control. Oh well, I guess you learn from your mistakes. :)

Orienteering race 44:08 [4] **** 2.8 km (15:46 / km)
shoes: Orienteering Shoes (Jalas)

Middle distance at the North Americans. It went okay but I was moving slow.

Control 1: Went really well. I hit it dead on.
Control 2: Hehe, I went 90 degrees in the wrong direction. I hit a clearing but couldn't figure out where it was on the map so I decided to run back to one. Heading back I found a fence and immediatly figured out that I had near my number five. I was fine after that.
Control 3: Was moving slow but hit it dead on.
Control 4: I didn't want to mess up so I was doing a mix between a slow jog and a walk. I was on the wrong spur and was looking around for a while when I looked up and saw the control on top of a spur less than 100 metres away.
Control 5: Went well. :) Cherie Revells and Sam Saeger both had this control.
Control 6: I didn't to trail run it. I got confused with some root stocks which I thought might have been a ruin (which shows I should wear glasses when I run!). Hit it fine after that.
Control 7: Missed a path junction so I ended up taking another path. There were lots of people going to this control so it was fine. :P
Control 8: Had no idea which path I came out on. Was running in the general direction of the music.

I wasn't that pleased with my race. I made a lot of stupid mistakes and was moving really slowly. I came 2/4 though...

Orienteering race 18:46 [4] *** 2.5 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

The sprint at the North Americans. I had an okay race except for one control where I hadn't oriented my map and went around the wrong building. Oops...

Running hills 26:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Running Shoes

We did hills today in cross country. We were suppose to do it 6 times but as this was only my second time (the others had built up from 4) so my coach said I could do 5. I felt really crappy throughout the whole run and started to shiver a lot even though it wasn't that cold out. And I forgot to take splits again. :(

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Running to the hills plus some stretching afterwards.

Running warm up/down 6:00 [1]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

Just bought new shoes so I took them up to the Y to try using them on a treadmill. They felt great but my knees didn't. I think they're sore from hills earlier today.

Strength 25:00 [2]

I felt pretty good with all 5/6 machines. The one that imitates a push-up killed me though. I think in total I did 80 push-ups in some variation yesterday so my arms are really sore today.

Strength warm up/down 9:00 [1]
shoes: Blue Asics Gel 1110

Was a machine sort of like an elliptical but it felt like you were going downhill. I was only going to do 7:00 minutes but they required a two minute cool-down at the end of that.

Wednesday Oct 4, 2006 #

Taekwondo 45:00 [1]

My second class back at TKD. Was pretty good but we didn't do anything too hard.

Aqua Fitness 1:00:00 [3]

Went to Natasha's aqua fitness class at the Y. My arms and legs were burning in some exercises. :P

Tuesday Oct 3, 2006 #

Biking warm up/down 20:00 [1]

Warm-up and cool down a a bike at the Y.

Strength 25:00 [2]

Same old six machines at the Y. Felt pretty good today. Oh, we were going to have cross country but it was cancelled due to a teachers' meeting this afternoon.

Running 34:20 [2] 5.0 km (6:52 / km)
shoes: Asics Running Shoes

My friend and I ran in the Run for the Cure (Breast Cancer) race in Centennial Park. As I had raced yesterday I wanted to do an easy jog, this was perfect as it was my friend's first 5km. The weather was really nice and there were a ton of people running/walking! According to the news paper there were 2, 200 people running/walking.

Strength warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Was a group warm-up for the Run for the Cure.
