OY at Shanty gully. Same area as the long day of easter a few years ago, and while we didn't go into some of the most unpleasant stuff, we found a fair bit of steep skunge out on the eastern end of the map. The first and last thirds of the course were quite nice though, and overall better than expected. except the spiders and ticks. they were not so good.
the first part of the course I was in plod mode and really struggled to get going at all, and made a bit of a dumb mistake on 4. the middle third was rough and hard to get running which was pretty annoying, and I still don't really understand what was going on with the slope before 5 (nearly everyone lost time here), but then the last third opened out and was fast, but super vague. I decided at 12 that I was sick of running slowly and that I was going to run as fast as I could to the finish. fun, and I ran the same time as James for this section.
heaps of ticks today - I gave up counting after 20, and then found a sea of them crawling up my socks. quarantined clothes, found and squished as many as I could, then had a good soaking in aeroguard.
