Orienteering 50:00 [3]

training at Stockyard creek, set by Su Yan. Nice open spur gully and a good way to ease into forest O again. a relatively simple area made tricker with no tracks and some areas whited out. Very slow to get the old diesel engine warmed up this morning, but gradually got going. the pace was pretty even whether up down or flat.

Orienteering intervals 20:00 [5]

star relay in a team with Caroline. got some faster running happening here, and we were in a good duel with Krystal and Zazi, and Alison and Winnie, but the training went a bit long (I think some of the control locations were a bit challenging for the younger ones to put out while trying to run at race pace), and we cut it short about 2/3 of the way through. A re-match is definitely in order.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]

warm up, warm down and a run back to the cars to get a water container before the relay.

pretty happy with the weekend's training, which is good because I'm not going to get much done during the week with the amount of work that's waiting.

6 AM

Running long 40:00 [3] 7.5 km (5:20 / km)

Run with Anna B to Bunya parkrun, from Anna's place in Keperra.
7 AM

Running race (parkrun) 24:29 [5] 5.0 km (4:54 / km) +160m 4:13 / km

Bunya parkrun. haven't run this course before and was warned of the hills - its not so much the hills that are the problem, more that they're all the way back. AB was a bit ahead of me from the start, which I expected, and didn't really want to get in a duel cos she is way better at hurting herself than I am and we had a long way to go after. but there was another young girl who came past in the start loop, who I passed on the first short downhill, then she came past on the next climb... wasn't having any of that, so made sure my lead stuck in the long downhill. got her by about 200m in the end.
8 AM

Running long 1:30:00 [3] 13.5 km (6:40 / km)

From parkrun through some bunya single track and up towards ironbark. Good run, good pace and lots of hills. Saw Dan, Matt and Steve on the way back to Matt's place from their ride. Emergency gel got busted out soon after that for the climb over the ridge at ironbark to settlement road. Quite tired at the end, but surprisingly ok for the trip back to ABs.

Great coffee afterwards, but tummy was a bit funny about breakfast, and my small child tolerance got somewhat tested.

Passed out on the couch when I got home.

Note

work has gone crazy, so training has been abandoned :-( doesn't look like there will be any let up in the next few weeks, so I guess my taper for easter has started.

Running intervals 12:00 [5]

headed out for a cruise around anzac park, but my light died nearly straight away. did a lap of the ring road and went down to smt to do some intervals on the oval. no moon, but enough light to pick out the goal posts to run around.
6x 400m on 2min starts, with an extra 30secs rest before the last one because the running thing was not going to happen otherwise.
Felt pretty good for the first half, then increasingly shabby for the second.
Times were 85, 86, 85, 87, 89, 92.

Running warm up/down 26:00 [2]

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]

hot yoga class. had low expectations of this but figured it would help me get some training done later in the week. more stretching than strength which suited me just fine. hip flexors quite tight, must have done some hard work over the weekend.
