Orienteering race 31:54 [5] 4.5 km (7:05 / km) +70m 6:35 / km

middle distance challenge at bright view. crazy convoluted course, and head high spear grass, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. I guess cos it was a short course I managed to keep the motivation going long enough to get around without slowing down too much, or having a major sense of humor failure. a couple of controls weren't quite in the right place (or the map wasn't quite right) but didn't take too much to figure out (...low expectations).
had a win in M21, which meant I beat Mat (by 6mins) and Olly (by 11mins).

Note

got a flat tyre on the way home from the event. big bang, and totally shredded. two nice people stopped to help - one as I was putting the dead wheel away, and the other as I finished pumping up the spare I'd put on the car (lucky I have a track pump that just hangs out in the car).

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

warm up
no warm down, sat and picked spear grass out of clothes instead

Running long 1:50:00 [3]

long run from Rachels place, with Rachel, Biddy, Kaketin, Kirra, Mat and Richie. Ran up moggil rd to highwood rd, up 3 sisters to ring rd, down to simpsons falls and back up to ring rd via telstra. raced mat down ch9 to gap creek. back to the gap via boscome rd and sth boundary.
generally felt a bit tired and worn out today, and my foot was hurting a bit at the end.
yummy bread and pancakes for breakfast after, and a coffee from the effeney's snazy espresso machine.

Running hills (Anzac Park TT) 27:25 [5] 5.2 km (5:16 / km)

ran with kirra and helen this week, but both bailed on the proper time trial. felt like I could run hard this week, but couldn't really stride out enough to go fast. quads still a bit smashed after tuesday.

Running 38:00 [3]

nice easy run. felt better than I expected, but lacked a little on the hills.

Running intervals 20:00 [5] 5.0 km (4:00 / km)

10x500m, 500m jog recoveries. Ran with Mark, and Kirra joined us for the warm up. The first half of the session was ok, and I would have been happy to keep them around 1.55 for the rest, but I had a slightly longer rest before the 6th, and after that I seemed to be able to run quicker. A little odd, but I'm not complaining. kinda felt like I'd finally run the slowness from easter and the flu out of my legs.

Running warm up/down 1:15:00 [2]

warm up, warm down and recoveries between intervals.

pilates 1:00:00 [1]

soon session. a bit hard at the start after not going for a few weeks. I recon its easier to find the right muscles after a smashfest gym session the day before!

Gym 50:00 [5]

Training at Race Elements. Tough session this week - heaps of leg stuff. Getting a bit piss-weak in the arms though - struggling with stuff that was pretty comfortable not long ago.

Cycling 1:11:00 [2] 26.0 km (2:44 / km)

ride to and from RE. slow and tired on the way in (no coffee with breakfast), and slow and stuffed on the way home. even the stop/go sign guy on the hale st bridge roadworks commented on how tired I looked.
helen made me yummy pasta lunch when I got home, and there was milk for coffee (about to make third)
