Swim. Pool was warm and crowded. Swimming is hard and boring.

Mtb at daisy on the demo bike. Giant anthem. We adjusted the suspenseful setup yesterday and it was great today. Heaps of fun and rode really hard.

O training at the spit. Started late and it was super hot. Super tired so just focused on getting the nav right and not cooking myself.

run to ashgrove park run. slow. humid.

Running tempo (parkrun) 24:28 [4] 5.0 km (4:54 / km)

hot and humid, and I was tired. would describe the effort as 'tempo-jog'. just couldn't get the legs going.

Breakfast afterwards was great.

Dan got me a demo bike from ftr, so needed to take it for a spin. went down to the skills park at gap creek, then rode back through the single track. had a few goes at adjusting the suspension which was making climbing really hard.
bike is super fun down hills.
also had some wheelie training up and down the driveway. can do about 3m most times now. big improvement.

Long run from Clares, but Clare and Richie were mtbing. the usual loop out to south boundary, with an extra loop up to the coottha ring road. pretty hurty, and felt flat from the start. a gel before the last loop was good, but didn't last long enough. cooked by the end but the pool was great, and cafe Clare does an awesome breakfast.

4 x 1km at green hills reservoir. never run here before, but a few of the running clubs use it - totally flat and closed road. ran with caroline, who ran really well (I don't think I would have pushed as hard without her on my shoulder, and she definitely has a better kick than my poor old legs). time were a bit quicker than expected, so happy with this as a starting point.
3.58, 4.02, 4.01, 3.58. jog back recoveries - 2 to 4 mins.

warm up, warm down and recoveries. did some drills and stretching stuff on the warm down.

Organising the sprint training camp. Very busy with 67 people. Lots of fun, and everyone was very enthusiastic. some crazy weather. got a storm through just after 1pm, then later the proper cool change - felt like the air con had been blasted on, with thick fog. made for nice running conditions.

Let myself get talked into a morning ride with Clare and Marion. Partial river loop (I didn't know how much lamer a river loop could get, but this was spectacular). Still had me on the ropes. super tired and couldn't climb at all. nice coffee at bean afterwards (while sitting in pool of sweat).
discovered at the end of the ride that the back wheel had some pretty bad brake rub, so maybe it wasn't all my patheticness.

First one back. Felt pretty rubbish all day - pretty tired. Its been stupid hot, but there looked to be some rain on the way. 29C and 70% RH when I ran (I'm used to it being hot, but that was pretty unpleasant) and the rain never arrived. TT was hard work to start with and then I just cooked. staggered home.

the yoga studio has a new timetable which has replaced the monday night power yoga class I've been going to for 3 years with a meditation/hippy bullshit class. training schedule (what there ever was of it) is in disarray!

City run. didn't eat enough in the afternoon so I was a bit flat, particularly in the last 10 mins.

Afternoon spin with Clare in gap creek, and Dan cos he is incapable of missing a bike ride. Took the single speed out for the first time in over a year - Dan built it back up for me a while ago, but its been neglected. Some misguided part of my brain decided that it would be good for an easy spin. As it was I was re-educated in the fact that single speeding is a full body strength workout. Still, the voodoo is a super fun bike to ride, should take it out more often.

mtb at old hidden vale. really looking forward to it after rave reviews, but it had rained that morning and the mud was awesome. 2 types of mud - the red mud on the lower slopes is super slippery, but the black mud on the upper slopes turns to glue. we ended up bailing, but it took a while to get out cos bikes got so muddy the wheels wouldn't go round. back to the cars an hour before the cafe opened, so we just went home. looking forward to having another go in the dry!

Anzac park run with clare. cruise to start with, then decided to do an extra loop and had to catch up - made for a bit of a hard run in the middle. good to do as I get a bit lazy over the tops of hills running on my own.
left quad is still a bit unhappy and was getting tight at the end. mainly an issue downhill.

the storms the other night have blown over about 1/3 of the big fig tree in anzac park (the one with the fence).

yep. its come to that. trying to avoid starting the year with an injury. swim at centenary pool, not too crowded - although a lot more weirdos in summer than in winter. I guess in winter you have to keep swimming to stay warm, where as in summer you can just hang out at the end of the pool being a pervert.

attempted run in anzac park to loosen the legs out. turns out my quads are still too sore - ok up the hills but could only hobble down them, so went home. not running again until I can at least walk down stairs without pain.

Awesome doms after the run on Friday so kinda ok with being stuck in the car for two days. Back to brisbane summer foulness. At least there's a storm on the way.
