OY at sandy crack. red 2 (as determined by new q-league rules)
after not feeling the greatest while running hard yesterday I figured I'd try and make sure I didn't run too hard today and hope I made the distance - so plenty of walking up the hills at the start, and coming back across the map. the up-side of this tactic was that I found the navigation particularly easy and didn't have any issues the whole way round. Dan says I won a sandbag.

Orienteering race 19:07 [5]

Qld sprint champs at USQ in Toowoomba. Fairly relaxed start to the event after organisers left the maps in Warwick which delayed starts an hour.
Great new map and a good course, although some controls were overly tricky and hidden. also some randomness as to whether the controls were on stands, wooden trestles or hung in hedges where they were really difficult to find. had a generally good run, except for some searching for si units and was just over a minute behind Rachel, which I was really happy with as I've been about 3mins behind in all the races so far this season.
didn't feel so great physically after being sick all week - every time I tried to run hard I thought I was going to die.

Orienteering race 1:28:46 [5]

Nol long hagaby. got a good start and was in a group that was running well, but then Rachel and Vanessa had a longer split on the second part of the first loop. Everyone came back together at the common control in the erosion when the leaders stuffed it
. The group was a bit strung out after the first loop and I think I was with the bunch that was to become the second group but I needed a little stop so lost that group. Ran the rest of the second loop with Lilian, who was having a great run.
Soon after the start of the last loop I ended up in a bunch with jas, mace and laurina. It was really fun running in a pack, even though I kept making dumb mistakes and ending up at the back. Wound it up in the least part of the loop to try and get ahead but jas passed me on the last hill and there was nothing I could do about it.
Really fun race and really great to race properly for what seems like the first time in ages.

Orienteering 13:24 [3] 2.5 km (5:22 / km)

Nol sprint race at ballarat uni. Still half asleep when I started and never really got going. A few hesitations but no major errors. Just too slow. maybe the first race I've finished where I've not been a scoring runner for the cyclones.

Orienteering race 36:30 [4]

Nol middle. Was looking forward to this race on really technical mining terrain. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I've taken my brain. Couldn't get going in the right direction on the way to 1 and completely lost it. relocated on 5, but still couldn't get sorted and found 3 and 2 before 1. Did the next few ok and had a few good sections but then another couple of brain farts on 9 and 13. Want sure about the map - unbroken circle hid a key feature at 9 and I think there should have been an extra contour at the to of the hill near 13. I think those things really just threw me cos I had no confidence. Very frustrating run.

3 x 500m intervals. 2.05, 2.07, 2.10. Felt heaps better than last week. Finally feels like I can run ok again. Pissing rain tonight. At least it was nice and cool for running.

Long run with Rachel and Katelyn from my place.they both a started much faster than me but I was ok after the climb. Ran into Bec doing hill reps on the chapel hill track.

was a bit tired after the run so decided to have a little nap. woke up at 2.30 - 6hrs, win!
