Race elements. training with Bec and Kathy. session wasn't too hard, but I'm pretty sure I won't still be saying that tomorrow. heaps of leg work... walking is likely to be an issue tuesday and wednesday

Dan's boxing training class. hard work. I was paired with dan this week, and it was much harder doing the blocking part than the punching part. kept getting hit across the room.

mtb ride at tewantin with Dan and Ash. didn't really know where we were going cos Dan left the maps at home. the tracks we found first were a bit extreme, but somehow managed to ride everything, despite really not having my head around the whole mtb thing for a while. found some nice flowing tracks later which were much more fun.

Race Elements. new program. Kathy and I were both really tired after various weekend shenanigans, so it was kinda lame. good program though, so hopefully better next week.

Dan's boxing class at Race Elements. hurty. learnt some new dirty tatics - knees and elbows. would hurt lots!

Mtb ride at gap creek with Dan and a couple of peeps on a Race Elements mtb course. skill level was somewhat reduced due to excess consumption of cocktails at AB's hens night. brain not keeping up with track, with unfortunate results. head started coming good at the end, but legs were pretty tired.
Simon was riding with another group, and managed a fairly serious off when his chain stuck, and launched head first into a tree. the special taxi took him away, and he's hanging out at the hospital tonight. sounds like he's going to be ok though!

Loop from Boonah to Kalbar and back. first part with Dan to Kalbar, then he kept riding to Brisbane. Crap headwind all the way home :-(

river loop with helen. helen crashed cos some dickhead (on a bike) pulled out in front of her without looking. some damage, but nothing serious, and the bike's ok. helen let him know what she thought of his riding skills. loudly.

Orienteering race 39:37 [5] 4.6 km (8:37 / km) +210m 7:01 / km

Aus relays. 3rd leg. Rachel and Laurina had great runs, and I headed off in 3rd, 5mins behind nsw and vic. figured I couldn't catch them, so just concentrated on not making mistakes and not getting caught. really fun course, liked it better than yesterday cos there were more chances to run faster. caught briony on the last hill, as she was coming back into the control on the bare rock, and then heard that I was just behind tash as I ran down into the spectator control. tried to up the pace, but tash was too far in front, so finished second.

Orienteering race 1:21:51 [5] 8.5 km (9:38 / km) +410m 7:45 / km

Aus long distance champs. main/only tactic was to not make too many mistakes so that it didn't turn into an epic. started off ok, and according to the splits I actually managed to get into the lead for a little bit in the middle part of the course. then caught Amber at 6 and even though I new she was running too high to 8 I got pulled too far to the right. 3mins of wandering around in the thick shit before I found something to relocate off, and then found the control quite easily. got through the rest of the course ok, and took the creek + hill option to the right on the long leg (and had a nice run down the creek with Jenny). messed up a bit on the last couple of controls before the radio by not being careful enough with attackpoints. heard blair announce that I was a minute down at the radio control, so figured I had nothing to lose from there so bolted down the hill and pretty much fell over the second last control, and picked up 3 places in the last controls. reasonably happy with my run, but it would be nice to be able to run a little faster.

Orienteering race 16:25 [4] 3.2 km (5:08 / km)

Sprint champs. In Benalla. slow and crap. stuffed up the route choice leg, but other than that just ran slow. and it was cold and rainy to really make the day fun.
