Rode from the olds place in Boonah to BBQ lunch at the block with Dan. Still quite sore, but heaps better than yesterday. Getting along ok on the flats, but pretty crap up the hills, and heart rate was going way too high. hopefully a few easy days and I'll be feeling better again.

Orienteering 45:00 [3]

Start of the mini-rogaine at hidden vale with James. Was feeling totally crap - really tired and legs were still very sore. Was plodding ok on the flat but had nothing on the hills, and couldn't even run down them, so I bailed and left James to clear the rest of the course.

was meant to go riding this morning but woke up in major pain from yesterdays smash-fest. Actually I'm way too sore for this to be from yesterdays training - it wasn't really that hard. maybe its just accumulated 'starting running again' pain. got a massage and managed not to cry.

Anzac park time trial (27.09) and warm down run. that was definitely my fastest time ever - yay!!

managed to haul my tired ass out of bed this morning and go training. never really got into it, and bludged around the river loop at the back of the group. got dropped on the corso and didn't care.
spent the ride day-dreaming about september - it'll be warm again and I don't have to train if I don't feel like it!

run to training + 5k warm up, hills, 5k warm down. felt pretty tired this week - the sudden re-start to my running training has been a bit of a shock to the system. was really looking forward to a nice hot shower when I got home to ease those nasty sore muscles... but my housemates had used all the hot water. again.

Orienteering race (Mt Crosby) 1:05:55 [5] 7.1 km (9:17 / km) +390m 7:17 / km

Mt Crosby event. took a while to warm up at the start cos my legs were pretty sore from yesterday, but got going well after about 20mins (should have had a longer warm up, but only just made it to the event in time for last starts). should have run under 60 for this, but made a few dumb mistakes in the last part of the course and over shot a few controls in a row and had to run back up a few hills. Was pretty pleased with how I was running though - felt pretty strong and ran up all the hills!

2 days off! how did that happen?? well yesterday I was feeling like total shite, and because everyone else here is sick I decided that a day off was a much better option than ending up with the flu.
I was intending to go for a run tonight, but my supervisor decided it was beer-o-clock and dragged us all down to the bar to buy us beer (as this is about a once a year occurence I wasn't passing it up... and I've been teaching high school students all week so I really needed it!!)

lets just call it a really good taper for tomorrows long run!

trolls ride. only a small group this morning, and a pretty social pace. serious case of CBF today.

Anzac park hill run/ time trial. ran it in 27.37 which I think is pretty close to my fastest time for this run (just before the woc trial). so looks like I'm getting my running fitness back pretty quickly - yay!!

Orienteering race (Aus Relays) 37:00 [5] 5.0 km (7:24 / km)

ran 3rd leg for the Qld team. we were a fair way down, but I passed WA and TAS and we finished 5th. I think the winning teams were finishing as I came through the spectator control the first time... which kinda killed my motivation to run up that f...ing big hill.

Orienteering race (Aus Long Champs) 1:17:00 [5] 9.3 km (8:17 / km)

Pretty happy with my run - I got round without any big mistakes - just went up into the rock a bit early at the end of the long leg which slowed me down a little. ran with wendy for a while on the first part of the course, and grace caught me at the end. really happy with how my knee was - until I smashed it on a rock - got some extra cuts and bruises to add to the collection! felt pretty good for the whole classic race but got slowed down a bit too much by the rocks and fallen timber. now I just need to get my running speed back before woc.

the public race after the middle distance jwoc final. really fun area, but couldn't navigate at all today. if the rest of the car hadn't been in such a hurry to leave today I would have run the course again to try and get it right!

rode out and back to the jwoc middle distance qualification from dubbo.... until I got a flat on the way home. spare tube wouldn't inflate, so I called wendy and she came and rescued me!

public race on the jwoc long distance area. so much fun!! really rocky and tough running, so I took it easy cos I didn't want to risk hurting my knee. had a pretty good run and didn't make any mistakes. still have no running fitness, but felt better than saturday.

rode home from the jwoc long distance... with a few detours. we tried to find some back roads so we didn't have to argue with the traffic on the newell, but they didn't exist, so we ended up on the highway anyway.

training at race elements. Imo was bludging today so I did the session by myself - so much harder cos there's no chance to rest! Knee is going awesome - back on the leg press and lunges and squats (but with little weights for now).
