Orienteering race 1:28:18 [4] 9.9 km (8:55 / km)

Aus long. fail. totally exhausted to start with, and managed to make a really dumb mistake on the way to #3 (although I did hear later that there was some debate among the organisers as to whether to mention the presence of the massive extra tracks and they decided not to bother - I think it was the wrong call), and did a ~10min detour up a hill before eventually sitting down, eating a gel and figuring out where the f**k I'd ended up. considered quitting the course, but convinced myself to keep going but save the legs for the relay. just jogged around after that. the rest was good navigationally, and the course was ok except for the 2.5km of dead running on the long leg.

Orienteering race 25:00 [5]

Coaches race at the schools relay. Ran the first part of the senior girls course, with Bridget... who cheated at the start and stayed ahead the whole way. fun area. Bridget and I both managed to lose a fair bit of time in the rocks. oops. hope the drone got some good footage of us running around like idiots.
managed to run the whole hill!

Ran the schools senior boys course. Great area and good course, but feeling pretty tired and brain dead after coaching all morning. Still managed to beat Riley by 10mins.

Orienteering race 36:08 [5] 3.9 km (9:16 / km)

Aus middle. great area, good course, and had a mostly good run. just a couple of wobbles in the circles (a bit more line breaking would have helped, but there comes a point when there's no circle left). probably lost about 2 mins all up. ended up running a fair bit with the kiwis which was fun, including running through the tunnel after telling the team to definitely not do it.
So unfit - running felt like hell.

Aus sprint. very hot and dry. usual low expectations - main aim was to not run out of legs too early (made it half way round before things started getting too shabby). course was good for the area, but nothing too technical.

Sprint intervals at UQ with the cyclones crew. good to get some sprint training in, but a pretty damning reality check on my current level of fitness.

Orienteering race 1:30:00 [5] 8.4 km (10:43 / km)

Qld Champs day 2. better and worse than yesterday. felt better running and mostly had better flow than yesterday, but had a few more searches for controls. at least 3 I think were on some small unmapped rock rather than the one the circle was marked on... oh well. scored a half hour break at #9 helping winnie after she crashed, but in the end I didn't really do anything. the stretcher arrived with a few people much bigger than me, so I didn't end up on carrying duty.
took a while to get going again after the stop, and got pretty tired by the end.

anzac park run for the first time in ages. very nice morning out, and a good reminder that it can actually be nice to run in the mornings.... it will probably still be another 2 years before it happens again.

not sure how I'm going to get motivated to do my pilates stuff at home soon. vuelta only has a few stages left and world mtb champs will only get me through next week.

River run. same same. SIJ a bit less sore than the other night, glute med a little more (I guess its a bit tired). feet still getting very sore from new shoes. I guess I'll just have to swap out the inner soles for while.

normal boring river run. still getting a bit of niggling pain through my sacroiliac joint on L side which is annoying.
run in was a plod. not long after I turned around some guy started catching me - slowly and noisily. eventually passed me but then slowed down. that pissed me off enough to run a bit faster, so passed him back. he was cooked by then.

Relay at Hardings Paddock. mostly a nice little run. went for a tour of the lantana thickets between 10 and 11, and smashed my head on a branch near 6 (still got a headache).

River loop with Dan. Ran into James and Kate going the other direction so stopped for a chat for a bit. nice morning. neck and shoulders very sore so I was a bit froomy
