Cycling 1:10:00 [3]

Gap Creek loop. Nice ride with Clare, Tamsin and Richie. We were very bad at riding as a group (partly because I had trouble keeping up - except up the hills, weird). Very hilly ride, but a good loop which avoided the worst of the bike-unfriendly roads. Double round of coffee at the bean to procrastinate from painting.

Note

Hours of painting hell. Very sore and tired (neck really stuffed). Will be nice to be back at my desk tomorrow - much easier!

Running long 1:25:00 [3]

Long run from Clare's with Clare, Tamsin and Richie. Nice morning out and the trails are in great condition after a bit of rain. Pool was beautiful and Clare made great pancakes and coffee for breakfast... and to think I nearly slept in!

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]

map memory sprint exercise at Bardon Park. Ran into Chris putting out controls for tmws event.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

things improved after a rest on the weekend, but a late night for the OQ meeting last night and I'm sick again. fail.

Running hills (Anzac Park TT) 30:12 [4] 5.2 km (5:48 / km) +260m 4:39 / km

Bit stupid to have done this (I probably shouldn't have run at all), but I was getting annoyed at not having run for ages, and pissed of with work so decided to go anyway. the other hope was that if I tried to run hard I wouldn't just sit down in the forest and feel sorry for myself. The running sucked. struggled to put one foot in front of the other. stomach cramps at the end and felt a bit pukey for a bit after I finished.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

jog warm up and walk-jog warm down. most of the time running makes you feel better. not today.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

increasingly tired this week, and now getting sick. not really surprising as everyone at work is sick, and I've had some massive weeks with work and the flat reno. hopefully some rest this weekend and I'll be ok.

Running 26:00 [2]

O training got washed out by the storm, so it was just wendy and I, so we decided to give the training a miss and just did an easy run through the trails at bowman park. nice to cruise around after the rain and have a chat.

still feeling a bit off - hopefully the run will help rather than hinder progress.

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]

hot yoga. lots of good hip stretching.

Sunday Nov 16, 2014 #

Cycling 1:30:00 [3] 40.0 km (2:15 / km)

River loop with Clare. nice morning to be out before it got too warm. Showed Clare a couple of alternate route options, including the chelmer extension.

A double round of coffees at the bean afterwards.

Running 1:05:00 [3]
slept:3.0

Run from Clare's, with Clare. Hot early, and spent the whole time looking forward to the pool at the end.
I was planning on doing a longer run, but it was just not an option today. I started tired after a rubbish night's sleep but was much slower than I should have been even then. My heart rate wasn't up at all - just no energy and couldn't get the legs going. Clare spent a lot of time waiting for me. I suspect that I need a bit more salt.

Pool was great at the end. watched obama's osprey helicopters go back and forth a couple of times - they're pretty cool.

Running 42:00 [3]

cruise around anzac park (before it got dark!). saw the tail of one of the G20 motorcades on the western freeway - there was an excessive helicopter presence and about 20 police vehicles, but didn't see who it was. its quite odd in brissy at the moment - there's obviously a lot going on, but everyone is doing their best to pretend it isn't.
2 sets of 5 chinups.

Orienteering intervals 30:00 [5]

O intervals at UQ, in pairs, alternating taking a 20 second head start. Mark didn't catch me on the first one, thanks to an area of construction blocking his route. I'm claiming the catch on the second one, partly thanks to his fumbled 'punch' at the finish. I was going well on the third until we got stuffed up by some badly mapped gardens. 4th was good, but no chance of catching Mark with the long running legs. I think I have some map corrections to do here too. I got caught on the last one cos I didn't see the first 2 tapes, but then Mark dsq'd himself by running through a hedge. I'm claiming an even score.

it was my first experiment with running with glasses on. went ok although they fogged up when I stopped. definitely better for reading the map!

not sure of total time as my watch didn't make it to training.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Running long 1:46:00 [3]

long run with Mark, Rachel, Tamsin, Richie and Clare. Started with the new tracks we ran last week, then T R C bailed out to the ring road. M R and I did the extra track down to join the slaughter falls track, then back via honeyeater and the chapel hill trails.

Nice morning out, and nice to be running in the faster group for a change! I've decided that I should be wary of any time Rachel lets me run in front - I nearly stood on another snake, fortunately this one was just a little tree snake - very pretty green with a yellow belly... but it managed to raise my already maxed out heart rate.

No time for coffee afterwards, too much reno to do!

Orienteering 21:41 [4] 3.6 km (6:01 / km)

bush sprint training at slaughter falls, set by Wendy. 'sloppy circle' training, where the control circle wasn't centered on the feature, so you had to read the description in detail. Stuffed the first one completely - couldn't get my head around the circle not being in the correct place, then the next few were fine, then I reckon one was in the wrong place - correct by the circle but not by the description.
The last loop was hard - mainly because I struggled to read the map and descriptions in the fading light.
Good training, and I might do a version of this on the december camp.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Running hills (Anzac Park TT) 30:35 [5] 5.2 km (5:53 / km) +260m 4:42 / km

I'm going to try an do the anzac park tt each week till the world cups. good intense training, and a very good indicator of how things are actually going.
tonights time was a bit disappointing, but probably not unexpected. its a bit longer than it could have been as I took a wrong turn on the way back, then realised, but it took a while to remember where I should have gone, then went back and ran the correct way... so somewhere 30 - 60 secs lost. other than that its a standard 'early season' time... hopefully some good improvements soon.

on a very big upside, it actually felt quite good to run fast, which is probably the first time since the weekend after easter. so some progress.

I need to get out of work a bit earlier for this, or just give up and take lights. the last 5 mins was more moonlight than dusk.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Yoga 1:00:00 [1]

hot yoga.

Note

massive weekend of renovations. pretty much done removing stuff now. found the old wallpaper under some ugly wood trim around the windows which was pretty awesome.

super tired now, but its ready for the tiler and will start looking like a new flat soon!

Running long 1:33:00 [3]

long coottha run with Mat. ran some new trails that Dan had told me a while ago, but hadn't had a decent run to try them. nice single track in the slaughter falls area - I think they'll become a part of the normal loops.
