Note
(injured)

turns out my crash yesterday resulted in a broken toe. spiral fracture to the phalange on my 4th toe. no wonder it hurt.

Running 20:00 [3]

short run at Anzac park. cut short cos I managed to smash my foot on a rock while running downhill. not good.

Cycling 1:00:00 [1]

bike testing at gap creek with Rachel. took the new voodoo single speed for a spin - very happy with how its turned out. the yeti is in dire need of a new rear hub though - free wheel mech is a little too free - lucky it was mostly downhill back to the car! not sure if I helped Rach make any bike decisions, or just confused her!

Running 1:15:00 [3]

run from Clives. Clive, Mat and Rachel took off pretty quickly, so Wendy and I cruised around at chatting pace. met one of Wendy's adventure racing friends on the coottha ring road - 20ish km into her last long run for Melbourne Mara... so we did a fast effort along the top of coottha.
nice swim in the pool at clives after, and plenty of baked goods and coffee for breakfast.

Running hills (Anzac Park TT) 28:15 [5]

time trial with Mark, Mat and Clive.
good run tonight, felt a bit less tired than usual and could actually run really hard for a change. that just meant that I could hurt myself more.
got dropped right from the start, and the guys passed me on the loop at the back (which is a bit unusual, as I've never seen them on the loop before). I think its because they were running faster than normal.
had a good double stitch happening at the end, and kinda died on the last hill, but its still the fastest time I've done for a while, so can't complain (and probably close to a pb on weight and age adjusted times!).

Running 40:00 [3]

easy run around anzac park. had a blister from last nights run, which got worse.

Running intervals 24:00 [5]
shoes: Vibram 5 fingers - speed

8x 3 min intervals at anzac park with the cyclones crew. expected to feel a bit better than usual for these given that I've had a few easy days, but didn't run any better even though I'm less tired generally.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]

warm up, warm down and recoveries between intervals.

Orienteering race 1:03:00 [4] 5.3 km (11:53 / km) +350m 8:56 / km

OY at Bluestone creek. super hot day, so tried to get started early, but not sure it helped much. heaps of track running, which was good, but added a fair bit of distance to the course. never really too enthusiastic about it today. probably should have gone for a bike ride.

Running 30:00 [2]

slow run around anzac park while the others did intervals. feeling too tired and crap to run fast.
I think I might have stood on a nasty rock too, cos the ball of my right foot got really sore. ended up walking home. training fail.

Orienteering 1:29:38 [3] 8.0 km (11:12 / km)

BBB club event at passchendale. this area is getting pretty thick as well, and could do with a good burn to get rid of the piles of fallen timber. running alternated between walking in the rocky stuff and nice and quick in the pine forest. managed to only make one mistake on the course - following mat. we both managed to overshoot a rocky knoll in a line of rocky junk. didn't see him again after that. I suspect the lack of other nav issues was due to not being able to run fast enough to get ahead of yourself in this terrain.

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3]

training at cascades. a follow-the-line course and then some control picking with longer legs between sections of short ones. cascades was pretty tough going. vegetation keeps getting thicker. no probs with nav, but then I wasn't running too quick.

Running 27:00 [3]

a lap of some trails at amiens so that we'd actually done some proper running.

Running hills (Anzac Park TT) 28:24 [5] 5.2 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 talon212

Smashfest at Anzac park. Mark, Mat and Wendy running.
pretty tired to start with, (and I'd really struggled on the ride home from work), so took it a bit easy at the start so I didn't run out of legs. started to feel a bit better half way.
I think the time is about 20secs quicker than last week which is a nice surprise. expected to be slower.

also ran in to Jo, Asher and Brindie before we started running.

Running intervals 24:00 [5]

Intervals in anzac park. good turnout for the cyclones this week - winter must be over! wendy, lance, mat, olly, mark and connie.

Same session as last week - 3 mins hard with 1 min jog recovery for everyone to catch up. ran around the TT course, so each interval was different, with plenty of hills. felt like I was struggling a lot more than last week, but I think I covered more distance. calves got pretty sore by the end.
connie smashed us all, except maybe mark.

Running long 1:24:00 [3] 12.6 km (6:40 / km) +800m 5:04 / km

long run from Clares. big turnout this week (relatively), with Clare, Wendy, Lance, Rachel and Katelyn. Cruisey pace, but I was in stuggle street the whole way. plenty of chat about the woc sprint day dramas.
managed some fast running on the downhills, but was very slow up hill, and did the loop about 5mins slower than usual. looking forward to a late morning nap.

Running hills (Anzac Park TT) 28:46 [5]

hill TT, with Wendy (Clive and Connie both bailed - Clive with a swedish cold). In the dark again, but a much nicer night than tuesday (but way less exciting).
Felt pretty tired and sore after my kick back into 'proper' training, but was ok once I got going. even ran a couple of minutes quicker than I thought I would - in the 'reasonably fit' range. maybe less running is ok if every run you do is massively hilly? still glad I'm not planning on running tmw.
